My dream vacation would be an extended stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan—and not just because it’s a beautiful setting.

I’ve always been fascinated by the way Japanese culture seems to blend history, purpose, and design so seamlessly. Whether it’s a centuries-old temple, a carefully designed garden, or an everyday object, there is an appreciation for craftsmanship and intentionality that I find incredibly inspiring and would love to experience firsthand.

What draws me most is the idea that beauty doesn’t have to exist separately from purpose. In so many aspects of Japanese design, the two work together. Things are created to be useful, meaningful, and beautiful all at once.

There is a field of wildflowers beside the clinic that is always lovely this time of year. One of the things I love most about nature is that it doesn’t strive to be something it’s not. The wildflowers don’t apologize for being small, the towering trees don’t shrink themselves to fit in, and no two blooms look exactly alike. But together they create something beautiful.

That’s one reason I connect so deeply with the United States Natural Miss philosophy: “You, naturally.” In a world that often encourages us to compare, conform, and chase perfection, there’s something powerful about embracing the person God created you to be. Your strengths, your story, your quirks, your passions—they all have a purpose.

Just like a field of wildflowers, the world becomes more beautiful when each of us has the courage to bloom as ourselves💚
