Come experience your curly hair as a form of individual expression. Learn how to care for and embrac Together, we’ll create new beauty standards.
Meg Conkling sees curly hair as a form of individual expression. That’s why she wants to help teach her clients how to care for and embrace their hair. A visit to her studio involves more than just showing her a style you want to recreate. She gives each client the personalized attention needed to figure out what their hair needs and what they want. It’s an exercise in self-reflection and connecting with your inner beauty, and it's an experience that allows you to feel accepted, cared for, and stylishly yourself.

Hey Curlfriend!
Before you blame your curly haircut for losing its shape or volume, there's a little finishing technique I want you to see.
I made this tutorial to show you how a few small adjustments can completely change the way your curls sit, especially when your density and texture are changing.

✨THIS is why you’re losing shape and volume after leaving the salon with a curly haircut.**
And before you blame the haircut, let’s talk about what happens AFTER your curls dry.
Curls naturally dry in clumps. That’s how we get beautiful definition. But those same clumps can leave your roots looking flat and your haircut appearing completely different from what you saw in my chair.
Here’s what a lot of you are missing.
⭐️Your styling isn’t necessarily finished just because your hair is dry.😬
Once your gel cast has completely set and your hair is 100% dry, you can start getting in there!
Gently separate your curl groups. Create movement. Lift those roots. Redirect pieces around your hairline. Learn how to manipulate your curls without destroying the definition you worked so hard to create.
And if your curls fall apart the second you touch them? That’s information! We may need to revisit your product application, hold, or drying technique.
This is why I spend so much time educating my clients.
😊A great curly haircut creates the shape. Knowing how to style it is how you bring that shape to life at home.👌🏼
And that education doesn’t stop after your first appointment. Every visit is an opportunity to fine-tune your technique, especially as your density and texture change over time.
If you’ve been watching my work and wondering what makes an appointment with me different, THIS is part of it.

Tomorrow is a big day for my mama and me. ❤️
On October 9, 2025, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. And tomorrow, almost exactly one year later, she’s having surgery to remove cancerous tissue.
It’s been one hell of a year, and I think we could both use a little extra love right now.
So I had this idea…
What if we woke up tomorrow to a comment section filled with the names of your moms? Whether they’re still here or forever in your heart.
My mama’s name is Millie. ❤️
Leave us a name. There’s something comforting about knowing we’re not walking through life’s hardest moments alone.
A little strength in numbers. 💗

Hey Curlfriend, it’s Meg. ☎️
It’s been a minute since I’ve had you in my chair, so consider this me giving you a little call to say hi.
I shared something recently that really stuck with me: I spend so much of my life taking care of other people’s hair that sometimes I forget I need someone on my team, too.
And it reminded me, that’s part of what I get to be for you.
Your curls change. You change. Life gets busy, routines fall apart, hair gets put on the back burner…and suddenly it’s been six months (or maybe a little longer 👀).
No judgment. No guilt.
Just your curl girl reminding you that I’m still on your team.
If your hair is telling you it might be time, come see me. We’ll meet your curls exactly where they are now and figure out what they need next.
Ready when you are. 💛
We have a weird relationship with the word haircut.
Somewhere along the way, cutting our hair became synonymous with losing our hair.
But look at this.
Look at what I actually cut off. It’s basically fuzz. And then look at the curl once I cleaned up the ends and regrouped it.
THIS is what we’re so afraid to lose?
Your hair grows from your scalp, not from the bottom. And there’s a big difference between growing hair and retaining healthy length.
Sometimes keeping every last little piece isn’t preserving your length the way you think it is.
Maybe the haircut was never the enemy. ✂️

Let’s make some hair magic. 🪄
This is why I don’t put much emphasis on curl typing. It’s a useful language, but it’s not a complete assessment of your hair.
Your texture is influenced by genetics, the condition of the fiber, your environment and the way you care for it. And yes, multiple curl patterns can exist on the same head.
I turn the curls I cut into artwork because I want you to SEE what I’m talking about, not just take my word for it.
Your hair doesn’t need to fit into a category to make sense.
This is the kind of education we get into at Curly Hair Alchemist. 🤓🧪
This is how nerdy we get in my salon. 😂
And truthfully, you learn A LOT during an appointment with me. Sometimes more than your brain is going to retain while you’re also getting your hair done.
That’s exactly why I make content like this.
You can come back, watch it again, and start learning how my brain looks at your hair〰️because I’m never just looking for a pretty curl.
I’m looking for information.
The more you understand what your hair is telling you, the less you have to guess. 🧪✨
