For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Edgar. I am Jenifer’s ex and father to our 2 kids. Today is a bittersweet day. It’s Father’s Day and I am so honored to be the Father of our amazing, smart, independent beautiful children but I would not be a Father without their Mother Jenifer. Today is also Jenifer’s Birthday.

It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow I must announce that Jenifer Matthews passed away peacefully September 30, 2021. Jenifer is survived by our two children Draven and Rayne, Her mother Darnell, Uncle Rick, Cousin Richard, and niece and nephew Maya and Julian.

The family is coping and mourning her loss in our own way. Taking it day by day.

For those that want to know how she passed, my answer is… young, too young. A tragedy in every sense of the word. The family has asked that we remember the person that touched our lives rather than scrutinize her passing.

I knew Jenifer for more than half my life. We were teenagers when we met. We became adults together. We became parents together and later we became parents of teenagers. I got to know the many sides of Jenifer over the more than two decades I knew her.

Jenifer was a wild and free spirit. Like a time when we were first dating and I mentioned that her sunglasses looked a little crooked and she just tossed them out the window of the car. She was unapologetic. Although she flirted with religion here and there, she was always spiritual. She loved her family and friends and was loyal to a fault.

I will always be grateful to you Jenifer for so much including our two beautiful children. You will always have a place in my heart and mind. I know as time passes our thoughts and memories of you will make us smile rather than cry. Happy Birthday. We love you.
