Early prevention is critical to keep skin looking youthful: Protecting your skin from wrinkles and sunspots should be a priority long before you start to see any signs of aging. The decline of collagen and damage from the sun begins in your 20s and becomes more apparent in your 30s and 40s. Starting early and maintaining a consistent skincare routine can help combat the effects of time and the environment. To ensure your skin stays healthy and vibrant, here are nine essential ingredients to keep in mind:

Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect the skin from environmental damage, brighten the complexion, and stimulate collagen production.
Peptides: Peptides are small proteins that can help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that can help improve skin hydration, plump fine lines and wrinkles, and elasticity.
Niacinamide: Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin tone.
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs): AHAs, including glycolic acid and lactic acid, can help exfoliate the skin, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Beta-hydroxy acid (BHA): BHA, including salicylic acid, can help exfoliate the skin, unclog pores, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): CoQ10 is an antioxidant that can help protect the skin from environmental damage and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Resveratrol: Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in grapes and red wine that can help protect the skin from environmental damage, reduce inflammation, and improve skin texture.
Ceramides: Ceramides are lipids that help maintain the skin barrier, improve skin hydration, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sunscreen is non-negotiable: The sun is the most significant contributor to visible signs of aging, so protecting your skin from damaging rays is necessary. With advancements in sunscreen formulas, there's no excuse not to use it daily.

Some people don't know this, but I actually got started as Hollywood Makeup Artist because I wanted to learn all the makeup tricks so I could help my mother feel better about her appearance while she was battling breast cancer. At the time, I quickly fell in love with skin treatments because it really made all the difference in your confidence when you looked in the mirror, and I knew right away that it's what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life. It took years of hard work, education and dedication to become the Esthetician I wanted to be, and grow my business into what it is today.

I truly believe I have the best job in the world and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Working with men and women who value the hard work I put into the work I do is incredibly rewarding.

Let's chat about AHAs and BHAs – two remarkable skincare ingredient types that can positively transform your skin regardless of skin type if you choose the right one.
AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are natural acids typically derived from fruits and milk. They work as gentle exfoliants, delicately removing dead skin cells from the skin's surface. By encouraging the shedding of these old cells, AHAs promote cellular turnover, leading to a fresher, smoother complexion. Moreover, AHAs have been known to enhance moisture retention, making your skin appear plumper and more youthful.
BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids): On the other hand, BHAs, such as salicylic acid, are oil-soluble and have the remarkable ability to pe*****te deep into your pores. This unique quality makes BHAs highly effective for those with oily or acne-prone skin. BHAs help minimize blackheads, whiteheads, and blemishes by unclogging pores and removing excess sebum, promoting a clearer and healthier complexion.
The Benefits for Each Skin Type:
Oily Skin: AHAs and BHAs are both valuable allies for managing oily skin. AHAs gently exfoliate the surface, while BHAs delve into the pores, balancing oil production and keeping breakouts at bay. We love Salicylic, Mandelic.
Pigmented Skin: AHAs contribute to the brightening process by gently exfoliating the skin's top layer, helping to diminish the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation. We love Glycolic, Kojic and Mandelic acid.
Dull Skin: AHAs and BHAs team up to reveal your skin's radiant glow by removing dull, dead skin cells and encouraging the growth of newer, healthier cells. Our favorites include Glycolic, Lactic, and Mandelic acid.
Sensitive skin: AHAs come in many strengths. Lactic Acid is an excellent choice for more sensitive skin types, derived from milk, and has larger molecules, so it pe*****tes the skin more slowly, resulting in a gentler exfoliating action. We choose Lactic or Mandelic Acid

When it comes to integrating AHAs and BHAs into your skincare routine, it's essential to use products that suit your skin's unique needs. When in doubt, email us; we can help you find the right one to suit your skin goals.

Looking to give your skin a boost? Upgrade your nighttime routine.
If you're looking to take your skincare routine to the next level, one of the most important steps you can add is incorporating a night cream into your regimen. Night creams are specially formulated to nourish and replenish your skin while you sleep when your body is at rest, and your skin is most receptive to healing and rejuvenation.

Here are a few reasons why a night cream is so important:
Provide hydration: Throughout the day, your skin is exposed to environmental stressors like pollution, UV rays, and dry air, which can cause it to become dehydrated. A good night cream can help to restore lost moisture, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.
Offer targeted treatment: Many night creams contain specialized ingredients targeting specific skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation. Applying a night cream with the right active ingredients can help improve your skin's overall appearance and health.
Promote cellular repair: While you sleep, your skin goes into repair mode, generating new cells and repairing any damage that's been done during the day. A night cream can support this natural process by giving your skin the nutrients and antioxidants it needs to regenerate and heal.
Prevent premature aging: By nourishing and hydrating your skin, night cream can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as other signs of aging, like sagging skin and dark spots.
Adding a night cream to your skincare routine is an excellent way to give your skin the extra care it deserves. If you're looking for a good night cream, I'd be happy to recommend some options that are best suited for your skin type and concerns. Just drop me an email or pop into my Instagram DMs, and I will help sort out what's the right choice for you.

People always ask me where I found my models for my website, did you know they all started as our acne clients?

The beautiful Rachael came to me after trying everything under the sun, she was frustrated and her skin was red and raw from OTC acne products. She has been clear for over 2 years now! That's the power of a good homecare regimen and professional treatments. So proud of all your hard work!!

This one is hard. My type-A nature doesn't like to let go. My type-A doesn't want to breathe either. But I am PRESENT in every moment. I know that this is the only moment I will have like this, good or bad. So when it's good, breathe, and acknowledge your joy. When it's bad, just let it go. The moment is fleeting, but you are infinite. xoxo

While chronological aging certainly plays a role in our skin's transformation, another hidden process accelerates the decline: oxidative stress. Imagine microscopic rust particles wreaking havoc on the intricate machinery of your skin, weakening its support structures and diminishing its vibrancy. That's what oxidative stress does – it damages the collagen and elastin that keep our skin firm, supple, and radiant. The result? Wrinkles, uneven tone, and a dullness that steals our youthful glow. But don't despair! Understanding this process and its effects empowers us to fight back and reclaim the healthy, radiant skin we crave. Let's dive into the science of oxidative stress, explore its impact, and unveil proven strategies to turn back the rusty clock.

What is Oxidative Stress?
Imagine tiny troublemakers called free radicals wreaking havoc inside your skin cells. These unstable molecules are missing electrons, so they steal them from healthy cells and cause damage. This ongoing battle is oxidative stress.
How Does it Affect Skin Health & Aging?
Think of your skin like a beautiful tapestry. Oxidative stress is like loose threads, weakening the fabric. Here's how it impacts your skin:
Fine Lines & Wrinkles: Collagen and elastin, the scaffolding of our skin, get degraded, leading to loss of firmness and elasticity.
Uneven Skin Tone: Hyperpigmentation and dark spots appear as melanin production gets thrown off balance.
Dullness & Dryness: Skin barrier function weakens, leading to dehydration and loss of radiance.
Increased Sensitivity: Inflammation flares up, making skin prone to redness and irritation.
Protecting Your Skin's Fortress:
The good news is that you can build a defense system against free radicals. Here's your battle plan:
Sunscreen is Your Shield: Daily SPF 30+ protects against UV rays, a significant source of free radicals.
Antioxidant Powerhouse: Incorporate serums or moisturizers rich in antioxidants like vitamin C, E, CoQ10, and green tea.
Nourishing Diet: Fill your plate with colorful fruits, vegetables, and whole grains for their antioxidant richness.
Manage Stress: Chronic stress fuels free radicals, so prioritize relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation.
Treating the Damage:
While prevention is best, there are ways to address existing damage:
Chemical Peels: Exfoliate and stimulate collagen production for brighter, smoother skin.
Vitamin A Derivates (Retinol): Promote skin cell turnover and boost collagen production for a youthful appearance.
LED Light Therapy: Uses specific wavelengths of light to reduce inflammation, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin tone.
Look for skincare products containing these heroes:
Antioxidants: As mentioned above, they neutralize free radicals.
Peptides: Signal skin to repair and boost collagen and elastin production.
Niacinamide: Calms inflammation and brightens skin tone.
Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates and plumps the skin.
Remember: Consistency is key! By incorporating antioxidants and SPF into your daily routine, you're not just making a quick fix but investing in your skin's long-term health and beauty.
