Can you lighten curly extensions without compromising the curl pattern? Yes - but technique matters 👀✨
Our Virgin Natural Black (1B) Extensions can be lightened, making them a great option for custom color services. However, when working with curly or textured hair, low and slow is the way to go. Using a lower-volume developer and lifting gradually helps preserve the integrity of the hair and maintain the curl pattern. Higher-volume developers or aggressive lifting can loosen the curls over time.
💡 Pro Tip: If we offer a lighter shade that's close to your client's goal, choose that instead. It's always easier, and gentler, to add lowlights than to heavily lighten darker hair.

Here’s what to AVOID when choosing an SPF if you have blonde or light-colored extensions:
🚫 Avobenzone – A chemical UVA filter that can react with light hair
🚫 Octocrylene – Commonly used to stabilize Avobenzone, but together they can cause extensions to turn pink or orange 😱
Instead, look for:
✅ Mineral-based SPF – Formulas with Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide create a physical barrier that’s gentle on skin AND safe for extensions
💡Pro Tip: After applying sunscreen, wait a few minutes before touching your hair to avoid transferring chemicals onto your extensions.
