Breast Cancer Update: So I recently found out that I have to undergo 12 weeks of chemotherapy. I hoped this would not be a part of my journey, but here we are. This treatment will significantly diminish the chances of cancer coming back in 10-15 years.
Similar to my approach before my bilateral mastectomy, I prepared for this next phase of my treatment. So, on Friday, I had a surgical procedure to get a port inserted in my chest for my chemotherapy treatments. The medicine that kills the cancer can be really hard on your veins, so they installed a chemo port that will be the place where my chemotherapy will enter my body.
I will also lose my hair with my treatment. So, in preparation for this, I cut all my hair off so I wouldn't have to experience large clumps of hair falling out during treatment.
I do not know what the next twelve weeks will be like outside of what I have already told you. However, I do know that I need mental, spiritual, and emotional support in these next twelve weeks.
Your prayers, text messages, video messages, phone calls, FaceTime, WhatsApp video calls, flowers (I love, love, love flowers), gifts, and anything helpful for chemotherapy patients are all welcome. If you have my number, please feel free to give me a call or text or send a message.
I love you all. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support I have already received and will continue to receive. God is good, and God is in control. Keep me in your prayers, and I will continue to keep you in mine. 🩷🩷🩷
