The Ritual Bar Co.

Heat rises. And in a sauna, that matters more than you might think. 💭

The air near the floor can be considerably cooler than the air higher in the room. So when you’re sitting high but your feet are dangling down below you, your head and upper body may be in the heat while your feet are hanging in an entirely different temperature zone.

That’s where thoughtful sauna design comes in.

Our saunas are handcrafted in Estonia, where the raised sauna bench and platform is called a saunalava.

Rather than one low bench, a well-designed saunalava uses multiple levels to bring your body up into the heat. You settle onto the upper bench and rest your feet on the level below, instead of leaving them dangling toward the cooler floor.

It’s not just about fitting more seats into a sauna.

It’s about where you sit within the room.

Traditional sauna design throughout Estonia and the surrounding region has long used elevated benches for exactly that reason: the experience happens higher up, where the heat and steam collect.

Feet supported. Body elevated. Enough room to actually settle in instead of perching on the edge of a bench.

👌🏻And then there’s the craftsmanship.

The tiers, finished bench fronts, natural wood and intentional proportions turn the saunalava into part of the architecture of the sauna itself, not simply somewhere to sit.

It’s one of those details you may never think about until you know what you’re looking for.

Then you start noticing it everywhere.

Save this for when you’re shopping for a sauna.

Send it to the friend who’s been “just looking.”

🤔And one of the biggest questions we get is: What do I actually need at home?

Just two things: a dedicated electrical circuit and a flat, level surface for the sauna.

👌🏻Don’t have those ready yet? Totally fine. Your sauna is handcrafted in Estonia, which gives you time to prepare the site while it’s being made. We can also connect you with trusted partners for the pad and electrical work.

Our customer Brad recently returned from a work trip to Iceland and came home inspired to bring that same sauna experience to his own backyard. He and his wife chose Saunest Pittsburgh because they wanted to work with a local company that could help them not only choose the right model, but handle the delivery, installation, and details from start to finish.

Last week, we delivered their Mini 2 — and seeing it settled into its new home was such a rewarding moment. There’s nothing better than helping a family create a new wellness ritual they’ll get to enjoy right at home. ✨

If you’ve been thinking about adding a sauna to your own space, our pre-opening special on the Mini 2 is happening now for a limited time.

Free delivery within 50 miles, 50% off professional installation, plus a complimentary sauna essentials kit — over $2,300 in added value.

A pretty good time to bring the ritual home. 🤍
