Kehlani Strong

Going to be a long day. She needed platelets and blood Both which she has an allergic reaction to. Gotta love when nurses don’t communicate! Kehlani’s chart says she get itchy with platelets… guess that means we don’t premed because I mean being itchy isn’t a big deal right? I don’t mind being itchy for hours… being uncomfortable and can’t sleep well. 🙄 However, it was somehow removed that she gets hives and swells. So our night nurses (plural) didn’t even bother to check and wake me up.. decided against premed (Benadryl)…. Now look who has a beautiful swollen eye… I’ll get a better picture when she’s awake. Thank God for day shift!!! Blood has started.. she has Benadryl and Tylenol for this one. Now she sleeps. I’m awake and annoyed.

Today is one of the days we have been waiting for. Her stem cells have been infused… our room smells like an ass ton of cream corn, and now we patiently wait for them to do their thing. I pray this works so that we can move forward with treatment. We had the discussion today that if we are able to move forward with treatment, we will either be putting in a double port or putting in a second port on the opposite side of where hers is now. This will be so she doesn’t have to get an IV in her hand every time she has treatment.
Before bed she did get a little energy which was nice. But now she sleeps as her body is working on recovering.

Stem cells have officially been infused. Now we pray for them to do their job. We have an amazing team today.

Also, you know you have an amazing nurse when she creates an IV bag for the baby! Especially when she made it Wicked Magic Dust!

Day 7 - Officially 1 week into a whirlwind of a new life!

Today was nice. The weather was crap, so we just relaxed. She decided it was time to play for a little, then back to bed, ate some spaghetti-o’s, do laundry, harass the nurses, and then back to bed.

Tomorrow will be stem cell day. At 130pm, her stem cells that we froze over a year ago, will be infused to hopefully bring her body to some sort of normalcy. It could take up to 8-10 days for them to graft. Pray they do their job faster!

Once they graft, and her body does what we need, we should be able to move forward with the next round of chemo.

Day 6-
Today she was really tired. She had her daddy, brother, and both sisters here to hangout with. Rachael came by to visit briefly this morning as well. Her counts weren’t great but not terrible. Her platelets were up because she had an infusion, hemoglobin went up a bit, her ANC went down but that’s to be expected. She’s just so tired thanks to chemo and antibodies. Positive note, she’s not hooked up to the IV accept at night. Overall, she’s doing great!!!

Today was a good day. Kehlani got her IV out of her arm, she was off the IV for almost 12 hours. Her appetite isnt great. So I asked for her to be on fluids overnight. We bumped up her platelet perimeter to 30 so anything under she gets a transfusion. She had one today. She also started her GCSF injection to help boost cell and ANC. She had such a great day!

Day 5 - Final Day of Round 1 chemo/Immunotherapy

She’s had a pretty great day today. Woke up to my heart wanting to jump out of my chest. I’m on edge for every little thing now…. Her oxygen was at 78 (should be 99 or better). So I push on her ask her if she’s okay… she looks at me like WTH woman! Even told me to “take a deep bref” then asked if I was better.. I said yo are you okay? She said I’m pine(her fine)… the stupid oxygen sticker came off her toe…. Followed by
IV issues, she ended up needing to get it taken out and a new one put in. That was traumatic.. Then our sweet Maddie and Deannine came by. Then Uncle Casey Almeida and Uncle Justin David came by. Uncle Justin baby sat, while I went to see Keyleighs NJHS induction.

Her counts weren’t great but… hopefully start getting better.. and as I’m typing this… she fevered…. Which means another day in isolation… sheesh this kid!

Day 4 of this new adventure.

Let’s start with early morning - Homegirl decided to fever. Nothing unusual/nothing unexpected. It’s a normal with her. More surprised it didn’t happen sooner to be honest.

Counts - her blood and platelets went up but of course, she had blood and platelets Saturday morning. Her ANC did go up from 4 to 30, and then her IPF went up .1% … little wins!

The day went smooth, 1st chemo at 8am, second chemo at 9-930a, and then Antibodies (which just finished). Rachael came to visit and made the most beautiful sign for above her bed. She’s been pretty active today considering everything. Mostly in bed because she is hooked up to everything while doing immunotherapy. She did end up fevering again around 6-7pm but not too high. She really is doing amazing considering.

She still needs you guys praying like crazy. I need yall to pray and pray hard… share her story, add her to your church prayer lists… yall seriously I can’t even begin to tell yall how much of a miracle it is going to take to save this girl.

Pray for the cancer to respond to the chemo and immunotherapy. Pray that her little body can continue to handle all of the treatment. Pray that the injection in New York is still working in her head and killing these tumors up there. Pray that the new chemos are hitting every where they possibly can. One of them has the power to cross over the blood brain barrier, which could potentially go after the brain tumors as well. Pray the antibodies go after these cancer cells and blow them up as well. Pray the blood counts, platelet counts, ANC all start coming up without assistance to show just how strong they are. Pray for the chemos to not cause her any unnecessary harm. Pray that our girl gets her miracle and gets to grow up, grow old, and tell the world about the odds she beat.

Day 3 of this new scary life.
Everything started super early. We moved everything up a lot! Her first chemo started at 8a and at this very moment.. I’m literally waiting to hear the beep from the IV machine, saying her antibodies are done.

She has handled everything so well today.

Platelet transfusion, Blood transfusion, early start to chemo. She handled immunotherapy like a serious champ! She has played her little heart out, she’s cuddled, she had lots of visitors today (uncle Casey, Uncle Justin, Auntie Andrea, Kam, Braxton, her daddy, Keyleigh, and Kai Kai.)

She is now sleeping. Praying the next 2
Days of chemo and immunotherapy go just as amazing!

We did find out that she will be getting her stem cells next week. So yall start praying for these to graft and start rescuing my baby! We just need a miracle and I believe God will give Kehlani her miracle!

Blood work at 1am and then we start these shenanigans all over again tomorrow morning. 💜

Day 3 Morning Update.

We have already started the day with
Blood and Platelet transfusions. Was hopeful that they were hanging on but the truth is, she is getting chemo and Immunotherapy and those will kick some count b***y.

We did move her chemo up. So she’s already on her second chemo for the day. Then once it’s complete, we will start rocking on immunotherapy.

I forgot to add, someone (KEHLANI) decided it was a good day to start the day off with a little fun. The cap on her IV came off and left a fun little blood puddle mixed with fluid on her bed.
