New Perspective Cuts by Bree

I debated whether to make this public, but I believe parents have a right to speak up when they believe their child’s health and safety have not been taken seriously.

My son, Talan Lansaw, was involved in an incident at school involving a drink that was intentionally contaminated with urine, Biofreeze, and spray deodorant. This was then given to my child to drink.

I want to be very clear: I do not consider this a harmless prank.

Putting bodily waste and chemical products into something another child is expected to consume creates a serious health and safety concern. Whether someone intended to cause physical harm or thought it was “just a joke” does not change the seriousness of the decision that was made.

My concern is not about creating drama, embarrassing another child, or starting a witch hunt. My concern is that my son deserves to be safe at school and should be able to participate in athletics without being subjected to dangerous behavior.

I have formally contacted the appropriate school personnel and requested an independent review of the situation. I am asking for this incident to be thoroughly investigated, appropriately documented, and addressed—not minimized or brushed aside as kids being kids.

As parents, we teach our children that bullying is wrong, that other people’s health and safety matter, and that our choices have consequences. I believe schools should reinforce those same lessons.

I am asking for accountability, transparency, and meaningful steps to ensure this does not happen to my child—or another child.

I will not publicly name or identify minors involved because this is about addressing the behavior and protecting students, not publicly attacking children.

I simply want my son’s health, safety, and well-being taken seriously.
