Mission Monday: Meet Aiden!

August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month, and this month, we’re celebrating Aiden who was born with SMA!

Aiden is a kind-hearted and fun-loving boy whose charm and sense of humor make an instant impression on everyone he meets. Born with spinal muscular atrophy, a condition that affects muscle strength and mobility, he continues to show that his vibrant personality and love for life can shine through every challenge.

He loves diving into imaginative worlds with his action figures and spending time on his iPad exploring games and stories. One of his favorite activities is playing baseball with the Miracle League, where his enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship shine bright!

This SMA Awareness Month, we’re proud to share Aiden’s story and help raise awareness for the incredible children and families living with SMA. His joy, humor, and determination remind us that a diagnosis is only one part of someone’s story.

Mission Monday: Meet Zoe!

When Zoe was born, she arrived eight weeks early, weighing just 3 pounds, 11 ounces. During her first year of life, developmental delays led her family to seek answers from a neurologist. Soon after, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and an MRI revealed that she had experienced brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen during childbirth.

From that moment on, Zoe has shown incredible determination. She has participated in occupational and physical therapy for years, and her family continues to celebrate the progress she makes through her hard work and perseverance. Every milestone is a testament to her strength and the dedication she brings to every therapy session.

Beyond her diagnosis, Zoe is a joyful, independent little girl with a big personality. She loves making slime, diving into experiments, and tackling creative projects. She enjoys figuring things out on her own and is always eager to do as much as she can independently, a quality her family admires, even when it presents new challenges. She is also known for being kind, caring, and encouraging to her friends and peers.

Today, Zoe takes medication to help relax the muscle spasticity caused by Cerebral Palsy, making movement a little easier. Her family is hopeful about upcoming procedures that will support her goal of becoming even more mobile.

As Zoe has grown older, navigating daily life has become more challenging. Since starting kindergarten, her therapy schedule has expanded, requiring her family to spend nearly 12 hours each week driving to and from appointments. Despite the long days and demanding routine, her family never wavers in their commitment because they know every therapy session is an investment in her future.

Bella's Angels is honored to walk alongside Zoe and her family on their journey. We are grateful to be part of their support system and look forward to celebrating every milestone still to come.
