Today, we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America—a nation built on the timeless ideals of liberty, freedom, and the God-given rights of every person.
Over the past two and a half centuries, our country has faced triumphs and trials, victories and hardships. We may not always agree with one another, and our differences can sometimes seem greater than the things that unite us. But I still believe that, at our core, we share a love for this country and the freedoms that make America unlike any other nation in the world.
On this historic day, I hope we can set aside our divisions long enough to remember what binds us together: our love of country, our commitment to freedom, and our responsibility to protect the values that have guided this nation for 250 years. May we always stand united against anyone—foreign or domestic—who seeks to threaten the liberties and principles upon which America was founded.
Today, we also offer our deepest gratitude to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, past and present, whose courage and sacrifice have protected our freedom. We honor those who gave everything for this nation, those who continue to serve today, and the military families who stand beside them. Your service has helped preserve the blessings of liberty for generations of Americans.
