My client was on the fence about bangs, so I made sure to include two hands-on styling lessons (in one appt!) so she could recreate the looks confidently.

I thought the bangs and face framing/contoured bits would highlight her eyes and cheekbones, and I knew that styling education and knowledge was the only thing standing in her way. So glad she trusted me on this one. I’m OBSESSED 🤩

Curly cut and color for this one. Curl-by-curl cut and a chocolate brown tone to refresh her existing color.
The color story here is still in progress, which I love sharing because it’s actually how most color journeys work. She came in wanting to cover her greys with permanent color, but we’re taking a more thoughtful approach first. This session we matched her new growth to the chocolate brown and we’re going to see how she feels about it before committing.
Next visit we’ll reassess. The plan is likely some highlights to do two things at once: blend where her old and new color meet, and soften the greys. Not every grey blending situation needs highlights, but she doesn’t have quite enough grey yet for it to read as intentional on its own. So her options are full coverage or leaning into it with some added dimension. We’ll figure it out together.
This is why I build in extra time for new clients. Color decisions like this deserve a real conversation, not a rushed answer.

My client asked for a side-parted curly s**g with a rectangular silhouette instead of rounded. No inspo pic existed for this one, so she became her own reference.

She travels a lot and needed something low-maintenance that could stretch between cuts. That’s exactly the kind of information I dig for. My first appointments run longer because I want to understand your lifestyle, your goals, and anticipate what you don’t yet know to ask for.

Here’s what made this cut work: her curl pattern and density gave me the freedom to cut shorter layers through the top and crown without losing length or weight. On a lot of curl patterns, short layers in that zone cause the hair to spring up and feel shorter, even if we barely touched the length. Her texture didn’t have that problem, so the layers actually do the opposite here. They help her go longer between cuts, which was the whole point.

First appointments with me are intentionally longer. You should leave not just loving your hair, but understanding it a little better too.
