Customer wanted a few things moved. A chandelier that was off center from their table and a ceiling fan that was off center in a room after a remodel. Moving the light was not a problem with the electrical because there was enough wiring to move it to the new location. But the bedroom posed a challenge. Not enough wiring to reach the new location. Plus there was additional wiring in the junction box. Can't conceal it in the ceiling after I move the fan and I didn't want to put a cover over a junction box. So, I hardwired a smoke detector over the old fan location! Now the wiring in the junction box is still accessible.

Wrapped up the deck in the client's garage by staining it. Originally was going to add a wrought iron handrail down the center of the steps. But since lowering the handrail along the perimeter to the proper height, client felt that this negated adding the wrought iron handrail.

Client had a toilet leaking at the base. Probably the wax ring. I pulled the toilet and discovered the wax ring never really made contact with the underside of the toilet. So there was really no seal made. I could put a ring on top of the closet fl**ge to raise its height. Instead, I took a second wax ring and sliced it in half like a bagel, and placed that on top of another wax ring. This is basically the same as buying a thicker wax ring. Checked for leaks and all was good

Scary moment. Somebody kicked in the front door of this house. Fortunately, it was in between tenants and nobody was home. I was asked to come in and make it new again. Build. Repair. Transform.

Couple of small jobs today that hopefully made a big difference for customers. First house: replace a woefully small indoor window sill (stool) with a proper sized one. Second house: recaulk around a tub

What a great way to start my weekend! I got the following text from my customer...
"Eric, David and I could not be happier with the soffit - with all your work, really. He went into the garage this morning and came back praising the new, finished look of the laundry room and the wonderful new bright light in the garage. Thank you for another round of perfection."

Updated some switches in a bathroom. The switch on the left (closer to the door) turned on the exhaust fan. The combination light switch on the right controlled the two lights in the bathroom. This seemed a little backwards to me as I think the switch closest to the door should be the one that operates the light. So when I updated the on-off switch for the fan to a timer I repositioned the switches. Btw, I recommend timer switches for your exhaust fans. You leave the room after a hot shower but the humid air doesn't. Add a timer switch and let the fan run for at least an additional hour after you leave the room. Removing that moist air will protect your walls and paint.

Here's an amazing example of how the color we see is dependent upon the light reflecting off it. I painted every wall in this picture this past weekend. Note the wall with the three pictures hanging on it and the second wall a little further back with the single picture on it. Both those walls are painted the exact same color with paint from the same can. Yet those two walls look like they are two completely different colors. Three Nails Home Improvement

I've been donating some labor to a local non-profit. They have a community of mobile homes that are all the same floor plan. One of the bedrooms is too small to fit a bed. The closet in the corner takes up too much floor space. I've been removing the closet to give more room. I'm working on my final closet today. Here is day one's progress. Tomorrow will be sanding and texturing the wall. The day after it will be painting and cleaning up.
