Wow, this is soooo bittersweet. 4½ years ago (pretty much to the day!) I took a chance on myself and opened my doors at Sola Westerville for the first time! That was such an amazing experience, and I loved *every* minute of it. I enjoyed creating a "home"y environment for you all! I also enjoyed honing my craft to the fullest extent, traveling to spread the knowledge of hair care, and was just getting started as a licensed educator. I had my hands in a little bit of everything, and I was loving every minute of it. Then, we all know what happened - the pandemic hit, and things were never the same.
From there I had to leave my educating positions- I wasn't provided with the consistency my child needed through schooling for her inaugural year- we did the best we could with what we had... I needed to figure out a way to get my income back... As a way to supplement, I decided to unleash my pierogi to the world. Friends and fam first, then facebook groups, then through social media via instagram/business FB page, a website and now, through my own part time store front!
As a result, my supplemental gig is now my fulltime gig, and I am so happy where I am! My heart is happy- which we all know what else I've gone through aside from the pandemic, as you've had to navigate things that I'm still recovering from.
As a result, I've had to reduce my time from behind the chair, closed my own studio, and moved in with a friend. I have now officially decided that my heart is moving on yet again, and I've made the tough decision to leave Sola indefinitely. I plan to continue to be extremely part time to the existing clientele that book regularly. My location will be emailed out over the next few days for those who choose to continue to follow me over.
Thank you, Columbus, for allowing me this opportunity to continue to chase this dream. I'm forever grateful to those of you who have supported either of my small businesses at any point in time- I wouldn't have been able to work around my family(or who am I kidding- my medical needs over the last 2 years!) the way that I need to without my businesses.

Keep in mind, the length is entirely different: but, LADIES: when your hair texture changes to this from this, 👏go👏talk👏a👏TRUSTED👏medical👏professional👏
As a hair stylist, we are well aware that hormones play a lot of roles when it comes to your hair texture, density, and color. BUT did you know, that it may actually be sending some warning flares? So, before you get all excited about this new found change in texture, ask yourself why might this be happening- I did.
If you've seen me recently, then you've seen my hair in all of this new, curly glory. A client and I were casually talking about it- and I said it's how you know there's been some changes to your hormones. The response was something along the lines of how my hormones must really be working nicely... Knowing my medical history, I jumped headfirst down the rabbit hole to confirm...
It's actually your hair follicle changing shape from your hormones *screaming* that they need help. The usual suspects are typically thyroid and/or ovaries (having a history of issues with both of these, I can truly attest to this- and they correlate.) Attempting to understand how your body functions as a whole is absolutely HUGE.
Not sure where to start the conversation? Start with: my hair was never curly and I'm worried about my thyroid and/or my androgen levels. (**YOUR THYROID MALFUNCTIONING MAY ACTUALLY BE A SIGN THAT YOUR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH IS OFF). If your androgens are too high, it can wreck havoc on more than just your hair- your whole thyroid can be affected by this, particularly your T3 and T4! So of course, I had a major full circle moment.
So again, ladies, your hair may be trying to warn you that you need some medical attention. I tell you this as a trusted hair professional, because hair is my business. 💁‍♀️

This has been so bittersweet. 4 years ago I moved into this space, and made it my cozy little salon home. Now, 4 years later, I am in the process of transitioning to my other business more full time, and reducing this one down to the studs.
My family and I have collectively decided that with my lease coming to an end, that it's time to free up this space as I've only been in there one day/week since October. I haven't really had time to process the emotional baggage that comes with it. My schedule will be further reduced over the next few months, which is one of many reasons why I am not accepting new clientele... I am no longer even able to accommodate the full roster that I have.
While I am excited and scared, I am also so saddened, as I never anticipated my supplemental hobby to become my full time gig.
Here's a small glimpse into what things are currently looking like, as we start to take it all down. A few more things were removed today. Next Sunday will be my last working day in this studio. Thanks to all who were a part of #24, and Iook forward to continuing to work with some of you while I'm still behind the chair 💖

Man, first Insta update on this account in quite some time! But, I just had to share- my kiddos had been doing amazing with school, and ended the first half of the schoolyear on a high note, and they wanted hair color as their treat ❤ they each decided on entirely different placement, and it definitely suits their personalities.
I'm still behind the chair, but only one day a week- most of my time is spent over at the bakery, which I'm trying to be able to get open a little bit more full time here in the near future. I am just out here providing for my fam by doing the things that I love, and I couldn't be happier! ❤
With that, it means that I'm still not taking new clientele at this time, as with my super limited availability, I need to stay available for those that have been with 💖
While I'm not exactly sure what the future will hold, I'm honestly just enjoying the ride.

I am working on getting an email out with some important updates. It will go over current COVID status, as well as some super important changes that will go into effect beginning August 1st. One major change is that I will no longer be accepting any new clientele or referrals. Stay tuned for additional information regarding this update, and how it may potentially affect your visit. At the beginning of this week, we were rocked by some traumatic news. My family, friends, and I are trying to navigate during this difficult time.
