This month’s practice explores Ishvara Pranidhana, the yoga philosophy of surrender. Through gentle discussion, reflection, and a restorative practice supported by props, we’ll create space to soften, let go, and trust the process.

While Shayla’s On the Mat is taking a short summer recess, we’re looking forward to gathering together this month for Beyond the Mat - an evening of rest, connection, and renewal.

August often asks us to rush ahead - into schedules, planning, productivity and the next version of ourselves. But before we move into a new season, what if we paused long enough to notice where we already are?

This month we explore balance not as something we attempt to achieve but something we continually return to. Through balancing postures, inversions and the philosophy of Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender), we practice softening our grip, trusting the process and meeting the wobbles with compassion.

Sometimes we fall out of balance. Sometimes we lose perspective. Sometimes life shifts beneath us. Yoga reminds us that the practice is not perfection; it is the willingness to return, again and again, with steadiness, humility, and presence.

Before the season changes, before life speeds up again, this is your invitation to pause. To breathe. To reflect. To trust yourself enough to fall and rise once more.
