Oh my goodness… I think my last post may have sounded like I was retiring! ❤️

I’m not going anywhere just yet.

After 38 years behind the chair, I am simply choosing to slow down a little and move into PART TIME hours. The HairWorks is still open, and I’m still very much doing hair — just no evenings and no weekends anymore.

This career and this little salon have been such a huge part of my life and my heart for so many years. I’m incredibly grateful to still be here doing what I love while also making more time for family, grandchildren, and a little better balance in this season of life.

Thank you for all the kind messages, love, and support. I truly appreciate every one of you more than you know. ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms, grandmothers, bonus moms, pet moms, and mother figures who spend their lives loving and caring for others. 💐

For over 38 years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing life with so many wonderful women behind my chair — celebrating weddings, babies, graduations, hard seasons, laughter, tears, and everything in between. What a blessing it has been.

Today I’m especially grateful for the gift of family, loyal clients who have become friends, and the joy of now spending more time making memories with my grandchildren.

Wishing you all a beautiful day filled with love, rest, hugs, and appreciation. 💕

For 38 years I’ve stood behind my chair,
sharing stories, laughter, tears, and care.
For 32 of those years, right here in Whitefield,
watching lives and families grow beside me.

This little salon has carried me through every season—
raising children, caring for parents,
celebrating milestones, and weathering hard days too.
And through it all, loyal clients became dear friends.

Now life is gently shifting once again.
As I begin to slow down and work a little less,
my heart is full knowing I can spend more time
loving on my grandchildren and making memories with them.

I am deeply grateful for this business,
for the flexibility it has given me,
for every person who has trusted me over the years,
and for a career that has been so much more than work.

What a blessing these past 38 years have been.

The Yellow Corner Queen

At the bend of Vigue and Grand Army Road,
Stands a building that’s definitely… seen some load.
A sun-faded yellow, with charm and with creaks,
And siding that’s held on for decades (and weeks).

It started with grain—Vigue Brothers’ big dream,
Back when a store meant more than it seemed.
Then came the snacks, the smokes, maybe bait,
As a good country store, it carried its weight.

But time moves on, and so did the shop,
Till I grabbed the keys—oh Lord, what a swap!
My folks packed up from St. Louis one day,
To be near me and baby (and help me not fray).

Since then it’s been home to the fam near and far,
You name it—we’ve filled it with laughter and scars.
Now it’s my castle, my nest, my parade,
And home to the best little beauty shop made.

The porch may be slanted, the shingles might shed,
And the plumbing’s got moods (some better left unsaid).
But inside these walls? Honey, don’t even start—
There’s joy in the floors and love in the heart.

So don’t call it rundown, don’t scoff or despair,
It’s held generations with tender care.
Hope lives here, and promise, and style on a dime—
With highlights and hugs and gossip in rhyme.

So tip your hat when you drive on through,
To the old yellow building with stories (and shampoo).
She’s not just a corner—she’s a crown in disguise,
A beauty-filled beacon beneath country skies!

Behind the Chair
—For My Whitefield Family

For thirty-one years, behind this old chair,
I’ve welcomed your stories, your hearts, and your hair.
Through seasons of life, through joy and through tears,
You’ve trusted me gently, year after year.

We’ve laughed ’til we cried, we’ve cried without shame,
Shared coffee, confessions, and childhoods by name.
Watched babies grow up, and said our goodbyes,
To loved ones who left with stars in our skies.

From prom curls and wedding day braids full of grace,
To quiet gray roots time never could erase.
You’ve given me more than a job or a trade—
You’ve given me friendships that never will fade.

This small-town salon, this sweet little space,
Has held so much love in its mirror-lined grace.
And I am so grateful—for every kind guest,
Who sat in my chair and brought out my best.

So thank you, dear Whitefield, for all that you are—
My village, my people, my guiding North Star.
I’m still here with scissors, with color and care—
And always with love, behind this same chair.

Beauty is not what we look like. It is not the perfect hair, body, and face.

I want you to think about what core beliefs you have around beauty…

My belief is this - beauty is an essence.

It’s something you exude.

Beauty comes from within you.

You don’t get that from makeup, hair and fancy clothes.

Beauty is attained by cultivating your inner world. Being kind to yourself, caring for yourself, and embracing the natural confidence you feel around being you.

Leave a comment and tell me what beliefs you have around beauty.

Are they supporting you in showing up confidently in the world, or are your beliefs keeping you boxed in?

SMILING should not be optional!!!!
You should simply Smile and flash this pearly whites to everyone!
There are so many amazing benefits of smiling that this simple gesture should never be ignored. First of all, it boost your mood instantly by reducing stress and anxiety automatically. Studies have found that smiling releases cortisol and produces endorphins, dopamine and serotonin. These are your bodies natural happy enhancers. Smiling reduces blood pressure, increases endurance, reduces pain, and strengthens your immune system! You look younger when you smile and it makes other people smile and then they pass that smile onto the next person and the benefits just keep going and going and going. So if you truly want to “pay it forward”
SIMPLY SMILE!!!!!
