Why do breasts deflate after pregnancy and breast-feeding?

Glandular (milk producing) breast tissue grows due to the hormone increases caused by pregnancy and breast-feeding.
➡️After these processes are done, both the milk-producing and the fatty breast tissue shrinks and involuted.
Additionally, breast skin and ligaments often stretched by a larger breast during pregnancy. ➡️These ligament and skin recoil to varying degrees depending on genetics, skin elasticity, and other factors.
This results in more loose skin, decreased breast tissue filling the breast, and often loss of upper pole fullness.

This can be corrected in various ways.
✅1. An implant can be placed to fill the breast skin envelope, as in this patient with a 325cc smooth round, full proline implant placed under the muscle.
✅2. Fat from one’s own body can be added.
✅3. A breast lift can be done in more severe cases to remove excess breast skin and lift the breast tissue.

After a 70-pound weight loss, this 39-year-old patient was happy with her weight but wanted to address loose skin, excess fat, and changes in her breasts and abdomen.

She underwent a Mommy Makeover that included:

• Mastopexy (breast lift) with silicone breast augmentation and internal bra placement
• Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with liposuction
• Liposuction of the flanks and back
• Liposuction of the chest wall

The internal bra was placed to provide additional support to the breast tissue and implants as part of her breast lift and augmentation.

The goal was to restore breast fullness and lift, create a more proportionate silhouette, and address excess skin and stubborn areas of fat following significant weight loss.

If you’re fortunate in your professional career, you’ll encounter your ‘ride or die’. That person who stands by your side, who rises to the occasion when needed, who has your back no matter what, who assists you in establishing a non-profit organization, who takes care of your most cherished patients, and who even joins you on a mission trip to a war zone. That person is Luci, my nurse practitioner.

As I’ve come to realize, small business ownership is filled with unexpected surprises and experiences that reveal the true nature of individuals and their values. Having someone who consistently supports you through thick and thin is truly reassuring and meaningful to me, in a way that’s difficult to put into words. It’s a testament to Luci’s character, work ethic, and unwavering dedication to our patients.

Thank you, Luci! I deeply appreciate you more than you can imagine.

A closer look at this 16-year-old patient’s septorhinoplasty, with a substantial change in the shape and profile of her nose.
She came to us with concerns about the hump along the bridge of her nose, fullness just above the tip, and the bulbous appearance of her nasal tip.
Her septorhinoplasty focused on smoothing the bridge, reducing fullness through the upper portion of the nose, and refining the shape and definition of the tip.
The result is a smoother profile, a more defined nasal tip, and improved overall balance of the nose with her facial features.
A great result and a significant change achieved while maintaining a natural appearance.

Why do they call them “gummy bear” implants? 🧸

It comes down to the cohesive silicone gel inside. Much like a gummy bear keeps its shape when cut, the gel in modern silicone implants is designed to hold together rather than behave like a liquid.

That cohesiveness is also important in the event of a rupture. The silicone gel often remains within the implant shell or surrounding scar capsule instead of freely flowing throughout the breast.

Building a career in a field where women have historically been underrepresented hasn’t always been easy. There are moments when the long hours, sacrifices, and balancing act can make you wonder if having both a career you’re proud of and a family is really possible.

What makes it all worth it is knowing my daughter is growing up seeing that it can be done. She won’t have to imagine what it looks like to chase an ambitious career while still making space for family, because she has watched it firsthand.
