πŸ’šπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ THROWBACK THURSDAY: IT STARTED WITH FOUR πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’š

Happy Anniversary Month, Cycle Sistahs! πŸŽ‰

In 2020, during a year when the world looked very different, four women got on their bikes and started riding together.

It started when Tina and Dawn connected through another cycling group on Facebook and met for their first ride on Tina’s birthday β€” September 11, 2020. πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

Not long after, Karen and Ella joined them.

Four women.
Four bikes.
A few rides.
A whole lot of laughter. πŸ˜‚

And eventually, one simple thought:

β€œWe need a name.”

And Cycle Sistahs was born. πŸ’š

At the time, we had no idea what those early rides would become. We were simply women riding bikes, enjoying the outdoors, encouraging one another and building friendships during an unforgettable year.

We just kept riding.

Through masks.
Through rain.
Through cold weather.
Through new trails and new adventures.

And somewhere along the way, those rides became something bigger. ❀️

Six years later, Cycle Sistahs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to empowering women and girls through cycling, community and wellness.

And this weekend, we’re heading to the Poconos for our Anniversary Weekend β€” celebrating the sisterhood, the journey and everything that started with FOUR. πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

All month long, we’ll be sharing memories from the early days of Cycle Sistahs and celebrating how far we’ve come.

Here’s to the original four.
Here’s to every Sistah who joined us along the way.
And here’s to where we’re riding next. πŸ’š

πŸ’šπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ CYCLE SISTAHS SPOTLIGHT: ELIZABETH β€œLIZ” BOYER πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’š

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Elizabeth β€œLiz” Boyer! ✨

A mother, grandmother, runner, cyclist, Ride Leader, Chaplain β€” and our newest Cycle Sistahs Board Member! πŸ’š

Liz has been an athlete for most of her life. She began running at just 12 years old, competed in track and played field hockey throughout middle and high school. Running remains her first love. πŸƒπŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

In 2013, Liz joined Black Girls RUN! and remains an active member of Black Girls RUN! Delaware, where she has found fellowship, friendship and sisterhood through the miles.

Then came another love: CYCLING. πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’š

Liz joined Cycle Sistahs around 2020 and rediscovered her love of being on two wheels. Along the way, she found another sisterhood and developed bonds that extend far beyond the bike.

Today, Liz proudly serves as a Cycle Sistahs Ride Leader, helping lead our Sistahs on safe, welcoming and FUN rides. She also serves as our Chaplain, bringing prayer, encouragement and faith to our cycling community. πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’š

And her leadership continues to grow! We are excited to welcome Liz as the newest member of the Cycle Sistahs Board of Directors! πŸŽ‰

For Liz, wellness is about the whole person β€” mentally, physically and spiritually. She loves the outdoors, staying active and encouraging others along the way.

And as these photos show, sometimes her love of cycling takes her all the way to JAMAICA! πŸ‡―πŸ‡²πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈ

There’s even MORE to celebrate! πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’œ

This Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m., Liz will celebrate a special new beginning at Mt. Salem UAME Church in Delaware City. As our Chaplain, Liz has brought faith, prayer and encouragement to our sisterhood, and we are excited to celebrate this special occasion with her.

πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ WHAT YOU PACK MATTERS! πŸ›žπŸ’š

Our Co-Founder & Executive Director, Dawn Roberts, learned this firsthand when she got a flat tire during a recent ride.

Thankfully, she had what she needed to fix it and keep moving! πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Whether you're riding 5 miles or 50, being prepared matters.

So, Cycle Sistahs…what’s ALWAYS in your bike bag? πŸ‘€

And what did WE forget? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

Drop your must-have item in the comments. You might help another Sistah be better prepared for her next ride! πŸ’š

Be prepared. Ride smart. Ride confident. πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ’šπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ NINE SISTAHS. ONE GREAT LABOR DAY!

What a great morning!

Nine Sistahs joined us for our Labor Day ride β€” including one of our newest Sistahs who traveled nearly two hours from the Philadelphia area for her first Cycle Sistahs group ride! πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

We also welcomed back a Sistah who hadn't ridden with us in a few years. πŸ’š

We rode. We laughed. We connected. And then…pool time! πŸ˜ŽπŸŠπŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

This is our mission in motion β€” bringing women together through cycling, health, wellness, confidence and community.

It’s more than the miles. πŸ’šπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ
