Promo's Burnout Problem Is Only Adding to the Supply Chain Mess The supply chain is making life hell for promo distributors and suppliers, leading to mounting frustration that’s costing time, money and jobs. As burnout sets in, it’s only adding to the supply chain mess. What can the promo industry to do stop it? And what happens if it doesn’t?

Here is the most recent headline from one of industry trade magazines. Looks like inventory issues will continue so planning ahead, flexibility in product selection and alternate sources will be in order for some time.

"A rise in COVID cases in Asia has caused factory shutdowns and subsequent transport delays that are poised to further exacerbate existing supply chain challenges for the promo industry. Disruption has already put pressure on full recovery, with some firms losing business because of rising costs and a dearth of available inventory."

Every industry is experiencing inventory problems due to pandemic related production issues. Tee shirts in popular colors are out in many sizes. So, when a client needs a large quantity, you need to know which suppliers can deliver. Glad to find a super soft tri-blend to help Hy-Vee thank their corporate staff.

Whenever a client reorders a premium product, it makes you feel like you made the right suggestion for the audience and event. This client needed to order even more after the celebration to thank loyal customers.

Designs for logos have gotten more colorful and complicated, but embroidery cannot always replicate the details. So, we simplified the design for left chest sewing and digitally printed (heat transfer) the full logo on the back. Another happy customer!

Creative solution - patches are popular so client wanted that look on 500 hats. However, the due date (and Chinese New Year) were not compatible. So, we simulated the patch with filled background and "3D" embroidery. Here is the result.

Crazy morning -- printing aprons for a live shoot for noon TV on local station. Tracked my UPS driver in the neighborhood (weather delayed shipment from Friday delivery and couldn't wait Monday for normal delivery time). Took the aprons to my contract printer. Got them done and drove across town to deliver 15 minutes before airtime. Happy ad agency and client. So, check out Goldies Onions in your neighborhood Hy-Vee next time you are shopping!

Just created and mailed this post card with "save the date" magnet for a client promoting employee wellness. They are hosting a virtual 5K race (walk or run) this spring. Great way to get people active and outside when the weather warms up!
