Does it really matter what UV/LED nail lamp I use
Update on my fingers after my nail product allergic reaction six years ago. I talk about it because it matters and it will affect you the rest of your life.
Full-cover tips with acrylic can create a skin-exposure problem before you even realize it. Uncured nail products should never touch the skin, and pressure from holding that tip in place can push product exactly where you do not want it.
This video is about cognitive dissonance in nail safety. Sometimes the information is uncomfortable because accepting it means questioning something you have done for years, something you were taught, or someone you trust. That discomfort can turn into “fear mongering,” “you are always negative,” “you are condescending,” or “I have free will.” None of those responses help anyone but yourself. Notice what your brain has to believe to make the risk feel okay.
The nail industry was handed dangerous, reactive chemicals that require chemistry training, but was only taught to treat them like ordinary beauty products. We were taught it was OK to play with colors, we were taught. It’s OK to mix things, we were taught it was OK to be creative with them. Most of you won’t understand until you have no skin on your fingers. Most of you won’t see the damage you’ve done to your clients until it’s too late because you’re stubborn as hell just like I was.
This video may cause you some cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance is the mental conflict you feel when you believe you care about nail safety, but then find yourself defending or excusing unsafe practices because the work is beautiful, the creator is talented, or you like the brand. That discomfort often gets redirected at the person pointing out the safety problem.

I do not know if trading standards or FDA has been alerted yet they both have sections on their website where complaints can be made. I checked our website again today and they still have the marketing on their website although it’s been changed ever so slightly. This is just like when light elegance said a few years ago their products were safe, healthy, and hypoallergenic and quietly took it out of their marketing. This type of bu****it kind of makes you furious. Doug Schoon has found that this company’s lamp has around 40% UV light. They are still marketing it as some sort of new technology. Anyone have problems returning their lamps? They said it was UV free and it is not and I’m getting complaints that people are being charged a $70 restock fee when people are trying to return it! Share this far and wide. CND - Creative Nail Design Revlon
Ps. Anybody see them make a public announcement yet that they had fraudulent marketing?.

It’s that time again! Let’s look at all the beautiful creativity you have been up too!
A clever process can still go wrong when the chemistry is ignored. The beginning of this is interesting and might be a better way to place sandwich forms. The problem starts when uncured gel is pushed out around the nail, into the sidewalls and underneath, creating a huge amount of unnecessary exposure.
