IOM Kosovo

Thirty-two portraits. Stories spanning years of the UN’s work in Kosovo.

To mark , UNMIK and the UN Kosovo Team brought these stories to Zahir Pajaziti Square in Pristina, recognizing the people and partnerships behind our shared work.

Among them is Predrag Mitic, whose family returned to Kosovo after years of displacement. With IOM’s support, his daughter Andjela is expanding her business to help build a more secure future for her and the family.

Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and joined us to mark the day.

Leveraging diaspora potential for the Western Balkans’ future.

Today in Tirana, IOM, AICS Tirana and partners from across the region are taking stock of progress and looking ahead at how diaspora engagement can contribute to stronger regional cooperation, socio-economic development and the Western Balkans’ path towards the EU.

By connecting people, skills and opportunities across borders, we can help turn diaspora engagement into a driver of opportunity and development, for communities in the region and for those who remain connected to it from abroad.

The discussion took place as part of the Regional Project Steering Committee for the “Leveraging the Potential of Diaspora to Advance EU Accession and Labour Mobility in the Western Balkans” project, financially supported by AICS Tirana and Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale.
