Microneedling does not “inject” collagen into the skin.

It creates controlled micro-injuries that activate growth factors, fibroblasts and the skin’s natural repair process. Fibroblasts then produce new extracellular matrix and collagen, which continues to remodel over the following months.

Human biopsy studies have demonstrated increases in collagen types I, III and VII following a series of professional microneedling treatments.

However, claims such as “400% more collagen” should not be treated as a guaranteed result. The available studies are relatively small, protocols differ, and every person’s skin responds differently.

Microneedling is science—but it is not magic or an instant result.
