**ODE TO ME. ODE TO WE.**

But where is the **ODE TO GOD?** πŸ™

And we call ourselves the *Rainbow Nation!* 🌈 Perhaps this is why things seem a little topsy-turvy in the world. My hubby would definitely use much stronger words! πŸ˜‚

I've been chatting to some 20-year-olds lately, and I've realised something: we oldies shouldn't underestimate how street-smart the younger generation really is.

πŸ’³ **The guy at the till** β€” looking at a loyalty card, he asked, *"What's the point?"*

β›½ **The petrol attendant** β€” he made an interesting observation about how not knowing who the actual person is makes building relationships tougher.

🧒 **The trolley attendant** β€” I loved his cap, and when I complimented him, he proudly said, *"It's my style!"* I loved that!

πŸ˜‚ **Then there was Trompie!** I jokingly asked him, *"En van watter bende is jy?"* We both had a giggle. He knew all about *Trompie en die Boksombende!*

These young people know more than we sometimes give them credit for. But it got me thinking…Do they know the deeper stories behind the Bible heroes we grew up hearing about?

Take Moses and the Israelites. An entire generation wandered in the wilderness, and only Joshua and Caleb from the original adult generation were permitted to enter the Promised Land because they trusted God. The next generation would inherit what their parents had failed to receive through unbelief and disobedience.
**What a lesson for every generation!**
We can be street-smart, educated, successful, independent and full of opinions. But are we walking in obedience to God? Are we teaching the next generation to know Him, trust Him and follow His Word?

Because **God is in everything!** He was present in yesterday, He is with us today, and He is already ahead of us in tomorrow.

But we have a part to play, too. We must choose righteousness, obey His Word and follow Him β€” not just when it suits us, but every single day.

So, in a world full of *odes to me, odes to we,* and the endless celebration of self…

❀️ **ODE TO JESUS!**
πŸ™ **ODE TO HEAVENLY FATHER!**
πŸ•ŠοΈ **ODE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT!**

Because the world doesn't need more Gods. It needs more Jesus.

**Less of me. More of Him. Always.** πŸ™Œ

The policy principle
No product should receive a low-sugar grade merely because its sugar is described as natural. And no manufacturer should be able to hide added sugar behind ingredient names that consumers struggle to recognise.

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ’šπŸ’›β€οΈ SOUTH AFRICA NEEDS A COLOUR-CODED SUGAR LABEL! β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’š

Where this come from? I wanted to buy some water . Water was very hard to find. The smallest space within the store. Instead sugary drinks juices etc. All your sugary foods right in front of the store!

Are you trying to kill us slowly with Sugar in SA? South Africa produces an average of about 2.2 million tons of sugar per season from roughly 17 to 20 million tons of crushed sugarcane. Economic Value: The sector generates around R24 billion in annual direct income.

How much sugar is really in the food and drinks we buy for our families? Why should consumers have to search through tiny print and confusing ingredient lists to find out?

Graded TAX for products containing sugar.
Graded Advertising time to 0 depending on the ST level.
Graded product placement within a store depending on the ST level.

Depending on the product rating should affect TAX, where it's located within the shop, whether it can be advertised on not, where kids are exposed to it?

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ MY PROPOSAL: A SUGAR TRANSPARENCY ( ST) GRADE ON EVERY CONTAINER!

🟒 GRADE A β€” LOW SUGAR
🟩 GRADE B β€” MODERATE-LOW SUGAR
🟑 GRADE C β€” MODERATE SUGAR
🟠 GRADE D β€” HIGH SUGAR
πŸ”΄ GRADE E β€” VERY HIGH SUGAR

Every product should clearly display:

βœ… TOTAL SUGAR: Grams per 100 g or 100 ml.
βœ… ADDED SUGAR: How much sugar was added during manufacturing.
βœ… NATURALLY OCCURRING SUGAR: How much comes from ingredients such as fruit or milk.
βœ… ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS: Clearly identify non-sugar sweeteners separately.
βœ… SUGAR GRADE: A simple colour-coded rating that consumers can understand at a glance.

πŸ’‘ WHY NOT GO ONE STEP FURTHER?

Require manufacturers to disclose the sugar used as an ingredient AND the total sugar remaining in the finished product.

The colour grade should be based on the final product's total sugar concentration, with scientifically established thresholds for different food and drink categories.

Natural sugar should not automatically mean LOW SUGAR. Artificial sweeteners should not be counted as sugar, but they should not be hidden from consumers either.

❀️ CONSUMERS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUYING.

Better information means better choices. Clearer labels can encourage manufacturers to reduce sugar and help families make informed decisions about their health.

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Let's put transparency before profits and public health before confusion.

Would you support mandatory colour-coded sugar grades on every food and drink container in South Africa?

πŸ‘‡ Comment YES if you believe every South African deserves to know what's in their food.

The City of Cape Town’s Electricity Revenue Protection Department is conducting meter inspections and related electricity work. But homeowners who have invested thousands of rands in solar panels, inverters and battery systems need clear answers about how these installations may affect their existing systems.

πŸ“Έ The photographs accompanying this post show an electricity unit with a keypad and a City of Cape Town Access to Premises Notice issued by Revenue Protection East.

This raises important questions that deserve proper technical answers.

β˜€οΈ QUESTIONS FOR THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN:

πŸ”Ή What exactly is this unit, and what is its function?

πŸ”Ή Where is the actual meter installed, and where should the keypad/display unit be located?

πŸ”Ή How does the installation interact with existing solar panels, inverters, batteries and grid connections?

πŸ”Ή What checks are performed to ensure the installation is compatible with an existing, authorised solar system?

πŸ”Ή Who is responsible if an installation causes damage, interference or unexpected changes to a homeowner’s electricity supply?

πŸ”Ή Are homeowners informed about the equipment being installed and its possible implications before work begins?

πŸ”Ή What inspection and testing procedures ensure that the installation is safe and compliant?

🏠 YOUR HOME. YOUR INVESTMENT. YOUR RIGHT TO ANSWERS.

South Africans are investing in solar energy to reduce electricity costs and become less dependent on the grid. Homeowners deserve clear communication, competent installations and accountability when municipal electrical work takes place.

We are NOT claiming that these units deliberately damage solar systems. We ARE asking the City to explain the equipment, its placement, its compatibility and the safeguards protecting residents.

Why did the meter guy come prepared with all the solar docs, how did we know we had solar? Comments below please!

πŸ“’ HAVE YOU HAD A NEW ELECTRICITY METER OR UNIT INSTALLED?

Have you noticed unexpected changes to your solar system or electricity supply afterwards? Share your experience, the area where you live, and whether the City explained the installation to you.

Please share this post so that homeowners across Cape Town can ask informed questions and get answers from the relevant department.

CITY OF CAPE TOWN β€” REVENUE PROTECTION: WE REQUEST A CLEAR, PUBLIC TECHNICAL EXPLANATION.
