Before you save that nail inspo… take a closer look. 👀
Pinterest is an amazing place to find inspiration… but lately it’s being flooded with AI-generated and heavily edited nail photos.
They may look beautiful, but many of them simply can’t exist in real life.
Here’s why…
AI doesn’t understand how gel behaves, how light reflects on nails, how flowers need to be painted, or even how fingers and nail shapes naturally look. It creates an image that’s inspired by nails, not by the reality of what a human nail artist can achieve.
So before sending your nail tech an inspo photo, ask yourself:
✨ Does the skin look natural?
✨ Do the fingers look anatomically correct?
✨ Does the lighting seem realistic?
✨ Do the details look almost “too perfect”?
✨ Is it an actual photograph, or does it look computer-generated?
The best inspiration photos are real photos of real nails, created by real nail artists.
That doesn’t mean your Pinterest board isn’t useful. It absolutely is! It helps us understand the colours, mood, style and overall aesthetic you’re drawn to.
But instead of expecting an exact copy of an AI image, use it as inspiration, not a blueprint.
As nail artists, we want you to leave your appointment loving your nails, not comparing them to a computer-generated image that was never physically possible in the first place.
