Bleach doesn’t simply “lift” your hair color. It oxidizes melanin while permanently altering the proteins and protective lipids that give the hair shaft strength, elasticity, and shine.

That is why overprocessed, bleached hair can feel rough, porous, stretchy when wet, and increasingly prone to breakage.

To protect bleached hair:

✓ Never overlap lightener onto previously bleached lengths
✓ Use a bond builder during the lightening service and after
✓ Balance protein treatments with moisture
✓ Detangle gently while wet
✓ Keep heat low and always use proper heat protection (professional - not treseme or medihair)
✓ Use an acidic finishing treatment when appropriate

Remember, short pieces without a root bulb usually indicate breakage, not shedding.

Save this before your next bleaching appointment, and send it to someone who thinks more bleach is always the answer.
