The best thing you can do for yourself is set boundaries — early in my career or any makeup career we take all the jobs because we’re trying to get exposure in the market & need to build clientele.

You will eventually reach a point where you’re more established and can say no to these things so I know it’s not applicable to all and depends where you’re at in your makeup career.

Here are my reasons why:

- early call-outs for 1 person is just not worth my mental health & time. I make exceptions for brides & bridal parties because it just makes more sense.

- discounts at this point do not work because more faces doesn’t mean less work, it actually means more & I would need to bring another MUA to assist + I’m not here to bargain my worth

- booking inquiries for the same day are just not worth it & shows the type of client you’ll be seeing (unorganized & usually in a mad rush)

I take a lot of pride in what I do and would like to have the type of clients that value that because makeup is a luxury service 🌸

When they say it doesn’t just happen overnight, it really doesn’t. It all the little steps & decisions that lead to your big moment. So keep pushing, even on days when you don’t feel like it 🤍
