so today I got excited about nails again

most of my clients know - I have been enjoying getting to know my clients a lot more than actually doing the nails lately. 🥒

the products run, or they lift, or they evaporate off the fricken nail while I’m painting, or they BURN, or they lack pigment, or they are just not good enough to be used in a professional capacity.

A lot of you know, I recently went for a gel manicure and Russian manicure upgrade course at RUSSIAN MANICURE COURSES | PTA & CPT 🇿🇦 | KSENIIA👋🏼 🤎

It was one day. We were all experienced nail techs. And I felt like a beginner. I was missing SO many basics in my knowledge. 🤏🏼

My biggest realisation - product. matters.❣️

I have tried to many products - from expensive to cheap to middle range - none of which have made doing nails feel lighter.

Today I did Robyn’s nails. I was surprised -
she came back with more nails than usual😅

( we normally do acrylic tips, however at her last set I tried a new BIAB gel on her )

In conclusion - we liked the gel and brand but we wanted something harder to break! 🫰

Lucky for my girl Robz - I had just paid more than R700 for a gel ( not bad but max I’ve ever spent is around R400 so this was a little bit of a jump for me ) and it already arrived ( incredibly fast shipping )🫦

Our appointment started out rough - tips not sticking , running late on prep blah blah - we are always like this together 😬 so at this point I’m stressed out

Now normally , this appointment would get even more stressful - and yet once I started applying this gel - I instantly relaxed.

Easiest. hard gel. ever. 🙃

And you know what else ?

Robyn did not take her hand out of the lamp ONCE. ( my last gels - clients were taking their hands out several times during the 90sec low heat cure )

So ya ,
I’m telling you to spend more if you are able to, because giving clients a chemical burn IS avoidable - nails do not have to hurt to be beautiful. 🤎

( side note : my client after Robyn also reported no pain or burning from her gel application - same brand but the BIAB version )🥹

🤎So thank you LUXIOGEL_SA| SO™️ RUBBER BASE | South Africa and RUSSIAN MANICURE COURSES | PTA & CPT 🇿🇦 | KSENIIA👋🏼

You’ll want to avoid harsh bar soaps, high pH soaps, and soaps that are high in fragrances and sulphate!👅

A few products that are tan friendly :

1 - Cetaphil eczema prone skin restoring body wash🧴
2 - Sanex 0% dry skin shower gel 🧽
3 - Epimax body wash 🧼

1 - Protex! - blotchy fade
2 - Dove
3 - mineral oil / vaseline😬
4 - Nivea products ( heavy oils )
5 - all exfoliants ( this means harsh shaving, too )
6 - fragranced soaps / lotions

A patchy fade isn’t the tan- it’s our maintenance 🫟

1 - MOISTURISER! - 2 times a day🤎
If you don’t have the Norvell body butter ( best option as the ingredients compliment each other ) —
You can use :
Epimax
Neutrogena hydro boost
Cetaphil

TIP 🤎🫦 target high friction areas ( wrist lines, elbows, knees, ankles )

We want the cellular shedding process to run as smoothly as possible! Dry skin = random shedding!

2 - friction : bra straps, waistbands, tight clothing all rub at your tan and cause the wearing away of your out cell layers quicker than wanted😅

3 - excessive sweating : tap yourself dry / use baby powder 🤞

4 - harsh products, with too many active ingredients 🧼

5 - hot showers 🚿 stick to lukewarm, your skin will thank you anyway🫶🏼

I’m sure you’ve wondered : do spray tans ONLY give you a tan or are there other benefits?🫦🤎

the female gaze 🫦

you want your tan to compliment your skin and add to your confidence.
tans are not meant to over power the beauty in your naturalness🥒

will be posting some contouring clips tomorrow 👅

the boyfriends who come in for the BF treatment all coincidentally have extremely hot girlfriends and buff arms so🤎

23/08/2026

take ur pants off, I’ll handle the rest 🤎

22/08/2026

Most of the time, the answer is 2 days before🤎
Spray tans take a full 24 hours to fully develop ( even if you only leave the bronzer on your skin for 3-8 hours before you shower ). On day 2, your tan is settled and at its richest colour. A trial before an event is also always best🫶🏼
