CHANGE IN INGREDIENT EU COSMETIC REGULATIONS - 01 September 2025

Further to the email below from September last year, in a regulatory change by the European cosmetic commission the ingredient TPO, or Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide has been banned for use in cosmetic products in EU countries.

This chemical compound commonly used in nail products to help harden and cure the coatings under UV light. To date this highly efficient ingredient has been widely used in the industry.

“The TPO ban only affects the EU countries and will apply to the UK in 2026. The ban applies from 1 September 2025, when non-compliant cosmetics cannot be sold on the EU market anymore.”

The EU countries are:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

There are only 2 products in the entire Bio Sculpture range that contained TPO:
1.⁠ ⁠Biogel Gloss (in the jar) - this has been reformulated and is now available for purchase – see below
2.⁠ ⁠Liquid Glass (in a tube) - this product is being discontinued.

No other products contain TPO and Evo is TPO-free.

All Bio Sculpture manufactured product ingredients and labelling comply with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the European Union governing cosmetic product requirements and with the new TPO-free Gloss Gel now available for purchase, you can be assured that all your Bio Sculpture products are TPO-free. You will identify the new TPO-Free version of Biogel Gloss Gel by the new packaging as below on the right, stating “TOP COAT” at the bottom right hand corner. Batch code starting with: BNG042545
