Before recovery every chapter was seemingly bad, we were definitely on a wrong path, and I know for me I was completely and utterly lost. I never knew what kind of life existed for me beyond the drugs and everything that goes with it. I felt almost destined to die as an using addict. Then came recovery, and in that everything changes. My life started to become an entirely different story. All those bad chapters that led me to where I was, unknowingly was about to create this amazing story of who I am today. Those paths I traveled down were soon to become a faded, weed-growing dirt trail that is continually growing over until it will eventually be covered. I sure won’t forget where I came from and what got me here, but I also won’t dwell upon it. I may not be a famous, money rich person but I feel
I am successful in so many ways that I am rich in life, love, and happiness. Little did I know it was in the loss of my old using self would come this bright, intelligent, and exceptional person I am today and I owe that to my recovery. We put in a lot of work to make the changes to become who we are today and I personally am happy with who I am. I can hold my head up and know that I am doing the right things, being accountable for my actions and making amends wherever necessary. If you stick with this program you will see that everything that’s promised will come true and for most, if not all even more. We can become a great story, we can still end up in the right places, and we can still live an amazing life. We’re going to have bad times in recovery but that’s part of life, we choose today to not allow those moments to take us down those paths that lead to the wrong place.
