For her township designer's concept, Tolamo Mokhoenyana wanted this specific hairstyle to speak without her having to explain. The adornments are playful yet powerful for a goddess rooted in her energy 🌠

This hairstyle represents resistance and preservation of African identity through generations. During colonization and slavery, many African hairstyles and grooming traditions were suppressed, yet natural textured styles survived through oral tradition, family care, and cultural memory. Today, wearing hairstyles like this reconnects people to African roots, self-acceptance and the celebration of black beauty in its natural form.
