Schedule or on-demand? There's no single "right" way to feed your baby — but understanding how supply actually works can take a lot of the guesswork out of it. 🍼
In the early weeks especially, feeding on demand helps your body build a strong milk supply and keeps baby fed through those unpredictable growth spurts. As things settle, a more flexible rhythm often finds its own way.
Not sure if baby's getting enough?
Wet diapers, steady weight gain, and a relaxed baby after feeds are all good signs to watch for. And if you're worried supply is dropping — stress, missed feeds, and latch issues are common culprits, but small changes (more frequent removal, a deeper latch, staying hydrated) can make a real difference.
You don't have to troubleshoot this alone. 💛

Breastfeeding isn't always instinctive — and a good latch changes everything. 🤱
A deep, comfortable latch means better milk transfer for baby and less pain for you. But things like engorgement, mastitis, thrush, or tongue tie can throw a wrench in even the most determined feeding journey — and none of them mean you're doing something wrong.
If something feels off — pain that doesn't fade, a fever, or a latch that just won't click — reach out to a lactation consultant or your doctor. You don't have to figure it out alone. 💛
This , let's normalize asking for help.

🍼 Week 5 of Pregnancy: Tiny but Mighty 🫘
Your baby is barely the size of a sesame seed right now (1.5–2.5mm, measured "crown to rump") — but don't let the size fool you.
This week, two MAJOR milestones happen:
💓 Baby's heart begins to beat
🧠 The neural folds (future brain + spinal cord) start fusing
Meanwhile, you might be feeling... a lot. Or nothing at all. Both are normal.
Common week 5 symptoms:
😴 Extreme exhaustion (different from any tired you've felt before)
🚽 Constant bathroom trips (it's hormones, not baby's size — yet!)
🤢 Nausea
🤕 Headaches
No symptoms?Totally fine too — every pregnancy is different.
🚩 What to actually watch for: severe one-sided abdominal pain, inability to keep any food/liquid down, or a sudden complete disappearance of symptoms you'd been having. Any of these → call your practitioner.
📅 PSA: your due date is an estimate — only 4-5% of babies arrive exactly on it! Normal range is week 37-42.
💛 Affirmation for this week: "Changes in my body are healthy for my baby."

"It takes a village to raise a child but it takes a community to support the parents".
Lekker luister🤩

🦠 RSV & YOUR BABY — what every parent should know (from your friendly neighborhood RN)
RSV is one of the most common causes of respiratory illness in infants, and it's going around right now.
✅ Watch for: runny nose, cough, low fever, fussiness, decreased appetite
🚩 In babies, these can look different than in adults:
Fast or labored breathing
Grunting or flaring nostrils
Extra irritability or unusual sleepiness
Poor feeding / fewer wet diapers
🛡️ Prevent it: wash hands before touching baby, keep sick visitors away, cover coughs, ask your pediatrician about the RSV antibody vaccine (nirsevimab) for babies
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
🚨 A note for EVERYONE: please don't touch, hold, or kiss someone else's baby without asking first.
Babies' immune systems are still developing, and something mild for you (like a cold sore or "just a little sniffle") can turn serious fast for them. If you want to say hi, admire from a distance, ask before you reach out, and always wash/sanitize your hands first.
Parents — it's okay to say no, even to family. Your baby, your rules 💙
🏠 At home for mild cases: saline drops + gentle bulb suctioning, cool-mist humidifier, small frequent feeds, lots of cuddles and rest
When in doubt with a baby, always get it checked — better safe than sorry 💙
Not medical advice — talk to your pediatrician about your baby's specific situation.
