The styling in The Polygamist was intentional.

Mpume's simple, casual style represented a woman who was independent, grounded, and authentic. She seemed comfortable in who she was and did not need to perform for anyone.

Matipa, dressed in red, represented something different. Her glamorous and polished appearance reflected a woman who wanted to be seen, chosen, and elevated. Red symbolised passion, desire, ambition, and perhaps even her longing for status and security.

The wardrobe department understood these characters because their clothes told a story long before they spoke. 👏🏾🔥

Not a lot of people can do this. In reality , ploygamy breeds hatred , disgruntledness and bitterness.

This is the scene where Matipa finally recognises Joyce's grace.

For perhaps the first time, she sees beyond the rivalry and begins to understand that Jonasi is, in many ways, a typical man caught up in his own choices and desires. By this point, it almost feels as though both women had resigned themselves to accepting each other as sister wives.

I believe this was the moment Matipa realised she could trust another woman to care for her twins. She saw something in Joyce that she may not have expected: compassion, strength, and grace. Joyce had every reason to be bitter, yet she continued to show humanity.

Joyce was impeccable.

Her greatest strength was first choosing her children and her peace. Then, remarkably, choosing to understand her sister wife and recognising that, ultimately, neither woman was the real enemy.

Because sometimes women realise that they have both been fighting for a man who created the very conflict between them.

Joyce understood that Matipa, too, had been hurt, manipulated, and sold a dream.

That level of grace is rare.

Sarah Gomora the damaged daughter of a rich man.

I remember watching Sarah's body language with Mpume at the beginning of the series.

The resentment in her eyes.

The envy she couldn't hide.

The bitterness radiating all over her like a foul perfume.

The defeat in her voice and her obvious irritation towards her mother.

I disliked her instantly.

I kept wondering why Mpume couldn't see the things I was seeing like "hey, this girl doesn't like you."

And just when I was wondering whether I was too fast in judging her, boom!

She steals Mpume's iPhone.

The same iPhone she complained to her mother incessantly to get for her.

For a long time, I wondered why she and her mother were obsessed with Joyce and her daughter because it was so apparent.

Essie was so consumed with Joyce affairs while her daughter wanted Mpume's life at all costs.

How could I have known they were both Gomoras themselves?

That revelation changed my entire impression about Sarah and I began to understand her instead of condemning her.

As much as I blame Jonasi for hiding his daughter for over 18 years, I blame Essie more.

It would have a different ball game if Sarah didn't even know Jonasi was her father than to be told that "this man is your father but he is ashamed of you!"

It is painful.

It kills self esteem and breeds resentment.

You feel unloved, worthless and abandoned!

All thanks to Jonasi and Essie, Sarah constantly felt inferior and deeply h8ted her half sister Mpume for having all things she didn't have.

Things she deserved by right.

Imagine visiting your own father's wealthy home and still be acting like an outsider because you know you are unwanted!

While Mpume drives a posh car, Sarah didn't even have any.

And to make matters worse, they are age mates and you can imagine the regular type of societal pressure people of their age bracket face.

Sarah was just a time bomb waiting to explode because all those pent up anger, rage and frustration need to be chanelled somewhere.

She steals Mpume's iPhone.

Sleeps with her boyfriend.

Consistently fights her mother and then attempts a sacrilege—tries to kiss her own uncle.

That was a girl so damaged and screaming for help.

Watching Jonasi reject her and even abandons her in a restaurant broke my heart.

Sarah was a girl who watched helplessly as her father ignored her and showered all his love on another daughter.

It's highly likely she will turn out to be another pick-me like her mother.

Yet another reason why I always feel like pricking fat Essie with a ne.edle and see if the fat will leave some of her brain cells and ooze out all the Jonasi cells clouding it.

Nobody should tell me not to judge Essie today.

I understand we are past this series but this scene guys 🤣🤣🤣 the minister’s wife is a typical African aunt that loves gossip and involves herself in other people’s business. What was this? 😭🤣🤣
