All I wanted was a beautiful summer shimmer oil. 😭😂

Because spring is coming, summer is coming, we’re going to be showing a little more skin and I thought, well… if we’re already doing the Summer Vineyard Soufflé (i.e. hot-weather body butter), our skin deserves to POP a little more too. ✨

Simple enough, right?

WRONG. 😂😂😂

This shimmer oil has now been through THREE versions.

And because I use high-quality, expensive oils in my formulations, there is absolutely no “has’ka, throw it away.” That would be like throwing away good food instead of saving it for leftovers… and asidlali ngokutya. 😂

So I and the girls use all my project disasters on ourselves because the ingredients are top notch.

We will suffer through bad texture and colour. 😂

And somewhere between testing shimmer, colour and texture, I’m standing in my bathroom applying these formulations to my body and suddenly…

“Wait a minute… am I growing a MOUSTACHE?” 🫠😂

Google says the night chills are perimenopause.
The brain fog? Perimenopause.
The losing my train of thought? Apparently, perimenopause.
And now the facial hair is joining the conversation too?!

There is A LOT happening over here. 😂😂

Anyway, I digress…

This is the part of product development you don’t always see.

You research. You formulate. You prototype.

And 9/10, it’s not quite right.

So you go back, figure out what went wrong, adjust the formulation and try again.

You test. You adjust. You test again.

Because I just can’t launch something because it’s “good enough.



If I don’t love it, it isn’t ready.

So yes… this summer shimmer oil is coming.

But first, apparently I must suffer. 😂🤎✨

I’ve been sitting with this vanity tray on a quiet Sunday morning, reflecting on what it really means to take up space in this season of life.
