Red, inflamed and topped with a visible white or yellow centre — a pustule is what most of us recognise as a classic pimple.

It forms when a blocked follicle becomes inflamed, creating a collection of fluid and inflammatory cells at the surface.

HOW WE TREAT THEM

Not every pimple needs to be squeezed.

At Beautyologist, we assess each pustule individually. If it's superficial and appropriate, it may be carefully extracted. If not, we leave it alone and focus on calming inflammation, LED, barrier support + targeted acne homecare.

Because knowing when not to touch a blemish is just as important as knowing how to treat one.

WHITEHEADS | CLOSED COMEDONES

Those small white or skin-coloured bumps beneath the surface are closed comedones.

They form when oil + dead skin cells block the follicle, but unlike a blackhead, the opening remains closed.

HOW WE TREAT THEM

Closed comedones aren't always ready to be extracted. At Beautyologist, we assess each one individually gently extracting only when appropriate and never forcing the skin.

We may use professional exfoliation, targeted facials + carefully selected homecare to gradually clear congestion and help prevent new blockages forming.

Because sometimes the best extraction is knowing when not to extract.

BLACKHEADS | OPEN COMEDONES

Those tiny dark dots aren't dirt.

Blackheads form when a pore becomes blocked with sebum + dead skin cells while remaining open at the surface. Exposure to air causes the contents to oxidise, creating that characteristic dark appearance.

HOW WE TREAT THEM

At Beautyologist, we first soften and prepare the skin, allowing suitable blackheads to be professionally extracted with minimal trauma.

Depending on your skin, we may combine extractions with professional exfoliation, salicylic preparations, microdermabrasion or Hydro Micro Infusion, plus targeted homecare to help prevent congestion returning.

Because great extractions aren't about squeezing harder.

They're about knowing how to prepare, extract + prevent.

At Beautyologist, we use SuperLUX SHR technology by The Global Beauty Group an advanced approach to long-term hair reduction designed to make treatments faster, more comfortable and highly effective.

So, what makes SHR different?

Rather than delivering a single intense pulse, SHR | Super Hair Removal uses a rapid series of lower-energy light pulses, gradually building heat within the hair follicle while the handpiece moves continuously across the skin.

The melanin within the hair absorbs this light energy, converting it to heat and progressively disrupting the follicle's ability to produce hair.
