Introducing Vision Forecast: AI-powered insights before treatment planning begins.
What can you learn about a case before developing a detailed treatment plan?
SoftSmile introduces Vision Forecast, a new AI-powered decision-support module integrated into the SoftSmile VISION Portal.
Vision Forecast analyzes a new case and generates an initial clinical assessment, providing:
→ Case complexity assessment — an overview of the anticipated treatment complexity.
→ Estimated aligner requirements — an approximate number of aligners needed for treatment.
→ Treatment duration forecast — an early estimate of the potential treatment timeline.
→ Clinical case insights — relevant clinical details to support the initial evaluation.
→ Treatment strategy comparison — the ability to explore different approaches, including scenarios with and without extractions.

“How would you treat this case?”
In complex cases, there may be more than one clinically plausible strategy — and the key question is often not whether an option is possible, but what limitations and trade-offs it introduces.
With SoftSmile VISION, clinicians can build, visualize, and compare alternative treatment strategies for the same patient before committing to a final plan.
This makes it easier to evaluate how each approach affects the overall case, identify biomechanical or anatomical constraints, and understand where compromise may be required.
In this case, three different strategies were explored in VISION, each highlighting a different balance between feasibility, limitations, and the intended treatment objective.

Tracking loss isn’t always about patient compliance.
Sometimes, the aligner looks perfectly seated but is delivering very little force. In other cases, the problem starts earlier — with sequencing, anchorage, or movements that work against each other.

Why do aligner cases lose tracking — even when individual movements look reasonable?
The problem may be in how movements interact or are sequenced.
Competing movements, anchorage demands, and unrealistic planning can create discrepancies between what was planned and what happens clinically — leading to refinements, delays, and lower predictability.
