We talk a lot about getting that gorgeous glowโฆ but looking after the skin underneath it is far more important. ๐ค
Skin cancer can sometimes be spotted through new or changing marks, moles or patches, so getting familiar with your own skin matters.
๐ THE ABCDE MOLE CHECK
A โ Asymmetry
Does one half of the mole look different from the other?
B โ Border
Are the edges irregular, blurred or uneven?
C โ Colour
Does it contain different or changing colours?
D โ Diameter
Is it getting larger? Melanomas are often over 6mm when diagnosed, but they can be smaller.
E โ Evolving
Has it changed in size, shape, colour or behaviour?
โ ๏ธ Also get a skin change checked if it:
โข Is new or unusual for you
โข Itches, hurts, crusts or bleeds
โข Doesnโt heal
โข Looks noticeably different from your other moles โ sometimes called the โugly ducklingโ sign
โจ GET TO KNOW YOUR NORMAL.
Check your skin regularly, including places that are easy to forget โ your scalp, back, between your toes and the soles of your feet.
And remember: a tan from UV exposure is a sign that your skin has been damaged. Sunbeds also expose your skin to UV radiation and increase the risk of skin cancer.

A spray tan can give you colour without exposing your skin to UV radiation.
If you notice a new or changing mole or another unusual skin change, contact your GP rather than trying to diagnose it yourself.
