🕊️: Fly My Pretties to launch a bold celebration of creativity

Fly My Pretties, New Zealand’s premier musical collective, opens ten unforgettable days of creativity, celebration and fun as it kicks off the 2026 Waitaki Arts Festival at the Ōamaru Opera House this Friday, October 16.

“This is a huge coup for Ōamaru to have them here and we couldn’t get a better act to launch our 2026 Arts Festival. It’s big-band, 12 members on stage, and they’re an array of New Zealand’s top musicians,” Festival coordinator and Opera House manager Frances McElhinney said.

“It’s the first time they’ve performed in Oamaru and it’s probably on of the smallest venue they’ve performed in.”

McElhinney said Fly My Pretties is just one of the many exciting acts across all genres taking part, with venues throughout Waitaki, from Ōamaru right through to the lakes area.

“There is a lot of variety. From quizzes to meet-the-author events, to the NZ Symphony Orchestra, to pipe bands, to craft workshops, to nighttime tours of the museum so you can hear stories of love and murder by torchlight. There really is something for everyone.”
