I was gonna redo this video when I saw that fly pop out of nowhere but I decided that I did not give a damn lol 😂 I contemplated on posting it over here but I figured you guys need to hear this too.

⚠️ CLIENTS THAT GET BRAIDS THIS IS IMPORTANT!

I’ve posted this in the past (2024) but here is a reminder! (This client’s hair has grown back healthy and full again now 🥰)

Hot water is used to seal and set the synthetic ends of braids. It does NOT need to be poured or dipped all the way up onto your natural hair. A lot of braiding hair is made from synthetic, plastic based fibers that soften and change with heat. That’s why hot water dipping works in the first place. But your REAL hair doesn’t need that same treatment. 🥵
When finishing braids, your stylist should know where your natural hair ends and use the proper finishing technique for the style and fiber being used. Watch where that steam is going!! If the goal is simply to smooth flyaways around the portion containing your natural hair, there are other finishing options (including an appropriate mousse/foam & PLEASE NO CLIPPING AT THE BRAIDS) instead of unnecessarily exposing your hair to extremely hot water.
Protective styling should actually be protective. Knowing the products you’re working with and how they respond to heat MATTERS. 👏🏾 Not every braider is going to mess your hair up, but there are some that may not be aware of how certain products and techniques can be damaging to a clients hair.
