Yes prices are going up, however, here are some ways to combat the situation:

#1.Prescription for massage: If a doctor prescribes massage therapy for you, it is considered “medical massage” in the eyes of the state. (Even though it is still medical massage, the doctors note makes it provable) This then allows me to not have to charge sales tax, which is an 8% savings for you. For an entire year. Thats $10 off a 60 minute massage at the new rate starting June 1. The note just needs to say that the doctor prescribes massage for “xyz” condition. The condition can be, but not limited to: back pain, a chronic condition such as arthritis pain or lupus, anxiety, depression, TMJ dysfunction, etc etc to name a few. This doctor can be a dentist, a chiropractor, a primary care or any kind of specialist.

2. If you pay cash, then I don’t have to use my point of sale. Automatically making the savings $5 off

3. If you schedule your next massage before leaving your appointment, (can be up to 2 months out) it allows for a better schedule for me, saving stress and advertising costs so I’m offering $5 off.

If you utilize all of this, it makes life easier and cheaper for me and saves you some change. Win win.

Yes. I went to Sonic Temple on Thursday. One of my friends bought me a ticket and I couldn’t say no. This girl. She’s my fill in secretary, my listening ear, and my go to anytime I need anything. She’s a rock.

And when My Chemical Romance was on, she was my dancing queen.

We rocked harder than I’ve ever rocked in my entire life. I head banged. I cried to the music. I hip swung I climbed stairs and ramps and acted like a damn teenager. It was almost like I forgot every ailment I’ve ever had. Every rule I’ve ever been told…

Then the adrenaline wore off…

And this girl. She walked so slow (but not so slow that I would lock up more) and half carried me when the arthritis locked my hips and hypermobility flared. I know she had to be hurting too. But she didn’t complain.

By the time I got home, I was using every trick I knew. My legs were cramping my back hurt my knuckles were red and swollen, my hips were locked my neck hurt and I had a headache and my knees were locked and I was in tears. Muscle relaxers, tramadol, prednisone, water, pickle juice, pickles…Tylenol.

Reminded me why I don’t act this way. It f-ing hurts. Most days it’s mind over matter. This time matter won and I was grateful for the friend that helped me carry on.

Firm reminders of my own humanity and need for others, and d*% #% chronic illness that not a single day goes by it won’t let me forget.

That’s why you need some good friends to carry you home. Or at least to the car. But not before rocking the h*% # out. Cuz life doesn’t stop when it hurts like h*% #. Iykyk.

Ever wonder what occupies my time outside of massage therapy?

The answer is managing my emails…and alleviating jaw discomfort.

As someone living with a chronic illness, I experience daily pain that varies in location and severity. Due to psoriatic arthritis, I have bone-on-bone contact in my jaw. I often clench as a coping mechanism when I'm in pain, resulting in significant trigger point tension. Then, I also have run of the mill bruxism. Whoooeee!!!

I've found considerable relief through intraoral massage, (which additional surprise,) helps drain my sinuses.

If you're interested in this treatment, please note that a doctor's referral is required. This can be from your primary care provider, dentist, orthodontist, pain specialist, or rheumatologist. Really, any doctor. Patient said her ankle was hurting. But so was her low back and shoulder. I started with quads…A tight rope like fascial adhesion popped up going from her knee to her hip. Released that and her ankle was better. Never touched her ankle. It’s all connected!!! Just have to follow the patterns.

You start crying during your massage.

You don’t know why.

It’s perhaps tender, so yes painful, but it doesn’t make sense. Other things…they hurt worse and you’ve never cried with those things…why now?!?

Modern science often neglects it or never explains it or calls it something else..
But the body does store trauma.

It’s kinda embarrassing. Like I shouldn’t be crying. It’s not like my best friend died…but maybe they did and your body is remembering because you stored the grief in your lungs because it took your breath away. You stored it in your shoulders because it felt like the world came crashing down .

Why is it so hard to admit that the emotional pains can affect the body in energetic but very physical ways?

Perhaps you were taught that it’s better to be tough and strong and now that you slow down enough for a massage it gives the body a chance to re-distribute energy .Maybe it’s just not crazy to think that something that affected you so much emotionally should also not affect you physically.

Mercy. We need to give ourselves more room to be…human.

It’s ok to cry here. It’s ok to relax. You’re safe. There’s no judgement. It’s happened to me too.

Ever notice a trend in the medical field lately? “Diagnosed late because early signs are missed” Folks (especially women) before you let another doctor gaslight you, consider that perhaps the medical field has not caught up to the science that you have already physically experienced and YOU ARE NOT CRAZY. 🤪
