A Traditional Barber College in Mattoon, IL 💈
Meet David & Andrea Newberry, the owners and operators of True Grit💈
With nearly a decade of experience in the beauty industry each, David and Andrea bring a unique combination of skills and knowledge to True Grit.
Lead Instructor, David, is a dual licensed barber/stylist and an IL Barber Instructor. With ten years behind the chair and years of experience as a barber educator, he brings real-world industry knowledge. David has also worked in many different beauty industry business structures, giving him solid experience to guide students to building strong barbering careers.
Director of Operations, Andrea, has 10 years of experience as a successful beauty industry entrepreneur, spa owner and traveling educator. She brings a complete understanding of client experience, business development, marketing, professionalism, and how to build a lasting career in the industry.
On a personal note, they coincidentally met in the LakeLand Cosmetology Program in 2017 and now have three kids, three cats, two businesses, and so much fun together🤍

We’re a bit easier to spot now and how about that original brick wall 👏🏼
The buildings on Broadway in Mattoon are historic and we’re so excited to be part of the restoration of this block💈

When one of us hurts, we all hurt. David spent yesterday morning helping the guys at Armstrong’s Grooming & Shave Parlor move into their new location after the tragic collapse of their building in Mattoon. Thankfully no one was hurt and they were able to quickly find a new spot.
Show them some support, get a haircut from any of their talented barbers, and check out their new location at 2812 Marshall Ave! 🤘🏼💈
