I don’t know about some of you, but I believe in manifestation.

Almost 14 years ago, while I was in beauty school, I was asked where I wanted my career to go.

I didn’t come from a salon background. All I knew was that I wanted to make people feel good about themselves. I remember saying that IF I ever owned a salon, I wanted it to be small—maybe five or six people. Something comfortable, personal, and that felt like home.

Little did I know, I had just planted a seed. 🌱

Fast-forward almost 14 years, and I’ve built what you all know as Babes&Shaves LLC. For nearly three years, I’ve made 110 square feet WORK. 😂 But between barbering, waxing, extensions, color, treatments, and BabesBridal, I’ve officially outgrown those four walls.

I knew I needed more space. I just didn’t know what that would look like yet.

Then there’s Caitlin.

Caitlin and I worked together years ago and started renting our own spaces around the same time. We stayed in touch, and after randomly running into each other at the hair store, she planted another seed in my head:

EXPANDING.

A few months later, my nail artist, Chelsea, casually mentioned that the space below her was opening up.

A space below someone I already know, trust, and share clientele with.

It felt a little too perfect.

So I called Caitlin.

And, well…

When life gives you a space, you build a salon. 🤷🏼‍♀️🌿

Almost 14 years later, we’re creating the exact thing I once pictured: a small salon, a handful of independent artists, and a place that feels comfortable, personal, and like home.

Meet the stylist behind Babes&Shaves ✨

Hey, I’m Kayla. I started practicing hair in 2013, got my barber crossover license in 2016, added full body waxing in 2018, and officially became my own boss in 2020 ✂️

Behind the chair, I love creating lived-in or vivid color, sharp cuts, and smooth skin, turning you into a total babe! Outside of the salon, you’ll usually find me hiking or kayaking with my boyfriend, Keith, and our dog Karma. Our cat, Broccoli, prefers the indoor life… apparently car rides are offensive 🐈‍⬛😂

Fun fact: I’m not a Starbucks girl — I run on Dunkin’ Strawberry Daydream Refreshers 🥰
