Not a hair post- something new!

I guess it’s become pretty obvious that I’m passionate about my house plants 🪴🤓
I love caring for them and sometimes that care requires pruning or repotting. I can never bring myself to throw away the pieces, so I usually end up propagating.
With all the new plants, I’ve been considering starting a little plant side hustle.

I think there’s something really special about having a plant with a meaningful history. A lot of the plants here at Moxie Salon have been gifted to us. Many of them were propagated from our friends/clients own plants. I love the idea that we share a piece of something, an invisible link from one special place to another.

So with all that being said, Miss Raven ZZ was a gift from my parents when we first opened the salon, nearly 3 years ago. She’d gotten too big for her britches so I split her into 3 pieces. One will stay in her usual spot at the front desk, and 2 will be available for purchase. I hope these babies will find a new home to cherish & care for them!

More plants will be available soon so stay on the lookout for my little plant corner next time you’re in the salon 🌿💚🖤

Today is the 2 year anniversary of Moxie Salon opening our doors!

The past two years have gone by so fast. It’s been challenging at times, but overall it’s been amazing. I’m grateful for so many aspects of this journey.

To our stylists, Sophia, Kayla, Sorsha, Marissa, & Kristina, thank you all for being part of our salon. Not only can we all agree that Moxie has the best stylists in terms of the quality of their work, but also the energy they bring to our space. Anyone who visits our salon can see that we are all friends & yeah, working with your friends everyday is as fun as it sounds 🥰 I truly appreciate & love each & every one of you.

And of course to our amazing clients! You all have showered us with support since day one. None of this would be possible without you all. Every time you cheer for us on social media, come in for an appointment, purchase our merch or your hair care here, we are truly so appreciative. Thank you, always.

And last but not least, I’m incredibly grateful for the partner I couldn’t do any of this without- Alicia. Thank you for sharing this huge responsibility with me, always giving me perspective when I’m overthinking, and for being the best friend I could ask for! I love you so much 💕

You never know what to expect when you own a business. Since opening our doors, we’ve had the best of times and the worst of times. But I can honestly say I’m incredibly grateful for all of it, because overall, this experience the past 2 years has helped me grow as a person. It’s one thing to say who you want to be; It’s another to be it. Putting myself in a leadership position, a partnership, and a storefront in the community- it’s forever challenging me to show up as the person I want to be. I’m truly grateful for the growth.

So cheers to 2 years & here’s to many more! 🥂 Can’t wait to see what our future holds.

✨SCALP SPA TREATMENT 🧖‍♀️✨

I’m very excited about this one!
I’ve been told so many times that the shampoo & head massage is your favorite part of your salon visit. I’ve also been itching to add something new to my menu because, novelty. 💁‍♀️

This treatment is a spa day for your scalp. It features a gentle exfoliating scrub that will remove any build up, promoting healthy scalp & hair follicles (supporting hair growth), followed by a balancing shampoo. Lastly a calming masque sits for 20 min during your scalp and neck massage.

You will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. 😌

There are two options when booking this service; one with a blow dry & one without. If you are adding this onto a haircut or color service, the blow dry is already included. Otherwise, the choice is yours!

Who else is excited to try it?

Just got back from a long weekend in Chicago! We spent one day exploring the city which was really nice. We had some great food & did a lot of walking. I love Chicago. Monday was full of education. We saw 6 different educators! I’m so excited to be back in the salon, feeling inspired & ready to create some beautiful hair 💛

One year.

Can you believe we’re already celebrating our first birthday at Moxie Salon?!

Almost 3 years ago Alicia & I sat down at a coffee shop and wrote out all the details we could think of for what we wanted our salon to be.
From the aesthetic, to the business plan, the mission, even our values & our place in the community. At the time it was truly a dream.

With our first anniversary coming up, Alicia & I have been reflecting back to that time & looking back at this past year and all that’s happened. We’ve come to realize that our dreams have come true.

We have a gorgeous salon, full of talented & amazing stylists- a team that truly encompasses our values. We have partnered with organizations that stand for our believes, such as Pride St. Charles & Strands for Trans. We’ve received so much support from our clients and been excitedly welcomed to the North O’Fallon community.

I’m so grateful, so proud, & I can’t believe I get to work in my dream salon everyday.

Thank you all so much for the love & support. Thank you for being the best partner. Can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for us! Cheers 🥂
