POV: you trusted the girl you found on IG.

My sweet client Sapphire came in to town for her engagement photos and found me on here to do her hair and makeup. She expressed that she’s not a makeup girl and really wanted it to be minimal.

When I get a request like that I focus on: concealing where needed, facial structure, and sharpening the clients gorgeous features. I actually used a tinted moisturizer for the base and I really love how this turned out.

I left her pins in for her hairstyle so I could make sure she got dressed with no issues and her hairstyle stayed in tact until the perfect moment. These little details are so important for me. These moments aren’t just for ā€œcontentā€ for me, it’s to make sure my clients get the most out of their appointment time.. the details matter and I want them to wear their hair and makeup for as long as needed.

If you’re needed an artist for your next shoot I’m available by appointment Mon.-Thurs. 9-1pmšŸ’• link is in my bio

I’m in the messy middle but I was told that no matter what I am going through off screen, it’s a blessing to have these wins to share, so I’m sharing.

July has been one of the hardest months of my life and today made me realize two things can be true at the same time. You can be going through a storm and also celebrate wins, you can show up for people who depend on you when things are hard for you specifically too. I’m carrying it. I wouldn’t say I’m carrying it Well but I digress.

I’m grateful to share with you all a little of my why. As a girl who has always felt overlooked in an industry that really underrepresents bridal artists of color, I was asked to share a bit of my story. I’m choosing to look at my obstacles past, present, and future, as wins because I keep going.

Being a business owner is HARD, but oh so rewarding. Especially when I get a shy, TYPE B, introverted girly like me in my chair and I can give her some TLC the way I always seemed to be missing.

I hope you learn a little about me if you decide to read and just know, there’s a human on the other side of this account. One that wants to give each and every client in my chair a memorable experiencešŸ’•

I chose these photos because while these are older, they’re timeless and they really embody a piece of myself I miss but that I’m striving to remember and embody again.🄰

With love,
Shae

We’re misconstruing words so I’m here to set the record straight. Cakiness and texture are 2 different things. There is a cause and effect issue going on here but they’re not the same thing.

In many instances where people use Cakiness to define texture, it’s not entirely correct and it creates a narrative that someone’s ARTISTRY isn’t good when in reality, it’s just their communication that’s a little lacking.

If they’re an artist like me( in the beginning anyway), they haven’t quite mastered the art of communicating and believe me it can be HARD. It’s hard to articulate makeup artistry in a way clients can understand just like it’s sometimes hard to understand sports for people or legal jargon. It takes experience to be able to not only understand your specialty for you, but have the wisdom help others understand what you’re asking versus what they mean to get to a shared and collaborative and positive end result.

Hopefully this post helps. But if it doesn’t, let me know below. What’s your take?

*Yes, I noticed I didn’t use an apostrophe and no I’m not fixing it. KthanksbyeeešŸ’•šŸ˜‚
