I’m a hormone specialist with PhD in this field. I’ve studied this stuff down to the nitty gritty, but for almost three years, my own hormones were a complete mess.

When I am struggling, that is when I think of you the most. If I struggle, knowing exactly what I know, what is the woman with less knowledge going to do?

I had two back to back pregnancies and spent almost two years of nursing. High stress at home and at work while running on no sleep. I knew exactly what those inputs would do to a body and mine was no exception.

Of course my hormones and nutrients were depleted. My body had given everything it had to grow and feed two humans, and there was nothing left for me. Worse, even though I knew exactly what was happening. I still couldn’t fix it overnight.

What I tried first didn’t work. Probably because I wasn’t in my 20s anymore. Pushing through on willpower because I felt like I should be able to outwork this. But unfortunately a depleted body cannot be bullied into recovery.

Also, I couldn’t sit around waiting for my body to bounce back on its own. The realistic window for post-pregnancy hormone recovery is 2 to 5 years. I didn’t have that kind of time, and perimenopause was heading toward me too. Fast 😂

So I had to have a little talk with myself and did exactly what I tell my burned out clients to do. Go back to the basics. Sleep became non-negotiable, blood sugar stability, stress regulation, real recovery. I stopped trying to outwork a depleted body and started fueling it instead.

If you’re struggling,I suggest starting there too. Keep it simple before piling on more. Wait and see what happens.

If you’re ready to work on your own hormones, my consult calendar is in the bio. 🤍

After sharing my own story last week, I was flooded with comments from women (and some men) who had been told their symptoms were nuts in their heads.

Some of the stories honestly shocked me.

So now I’m curious…

What’s the most unhinged thing a doctor has ever said that turned out to be completely wrong?

This isn’t about doctor bashing. I actually blame the system, especially insurance.

Stress is real, and it absolutely affects the body. But dismissing symptoms without looking deeper can delay diagnoses and change lives.

Drop your story below. I have a feeling a lot of people need to know they’re not alone.

When your ADHD meets your hormone obsession during the most inconvenient times.

Ladies over 40, we are in this together and I never felt that more today. I wanted to run around and give everyone hugs but I’m trying to control my weird.

Follow along instead and let’s get through it together. Who’s with me?

I didn’t ever fill that prescription.

After my second son was born I struggled with constant stomach pain and nausea. I was referred to a GI specialist who ran every lab test she could on me while simultaneously lecturing me on sleep training my infant.

After all the labs came back normal, as well as my colonoscopy and endoscopy, she insisted that further testing was not necessary (I specifically asked for imaging) or warranted, because what I was experiencing was likely stress. She then called in a prescription for an antidepressant.

Within a year of giving birth I was down to 108lbs. For reference, I’m 5’6” and feel best at 125-130.

Then one night I woke up in excruciating pain. I ended up in the ER where imaging was finally ordered and found my intestines in a knot. The trauma surgeon said he had not choice but to immediately operate and found my intestines adhered to scar tissue.

While he saved my life, that surgery actually caused more problems than it solved. I will have to have a second one to fix the damage and to prevent more. I was turned away by multiple surgeons before finding one that would even take me on as a patient.

The most aggravating part is that, had the first doctor just listened and appeased me by ordering imaging when I asked, even though she clearly thought I was a hypochondriac, much of the trauma and pain I have experience the past year and a half could have been mitigated. My original surgery could have been planned and done safely and effectively the first time.

This is why I call on everyone to advocate so heavily for themselves. This is why I say labs don’t tell the whole story. This is why I try to find you a doctor who listens and leads with curiosity. And this is why I am so passionate about helping my clients outside the traditional medical system when they feel like they are being brushed off.

Your labs can be “normal” and you can still feel completely off.

I’m telling one woman’s story, but it’s so common with my clients, it could be any of theirs. I see this all the time with women who are exhausted, anxious, not sleeping well, dealing with PMS, mood swings, cravings, afternoon crashes, low motivation, weight changes, brain fog, or just feeling like they don’t recognize themselves anymore.

And the most frustrating part?
They’ve usually already been told: “Everything looks fine.” I know was!

But most standard labs are not looking at the full picture. And many doctors do not have the time to go deeper (this is a discussion for another day).

A hormone consult is not just about checking a few numbers and calling it good.

We’re looking at patterns:

stress hormones
thyroid function
blood sugar regulation
iron status
progesterone and estrogen balance
cycle changes
sleep quality
cravings
energy crashes
mood shifts
recovery

Your symptoms usually are clues

When you can connect the dots, we can help you feel like yourself again.

If you’ve been told your labs are normal but you still feel exhausted, anxious, foggy, moody, inflamed, or hormonally off, this is your sign to stop brushing it off.

DM me LABS and I’ll send you info on working together.
Or book a hormone consult through the link in my bio. I have a few spots open this month.

5 signs cortisol is dominating your life. Slide through and check off how many sound familiar.

Most of the clients I work with have been living with these symptoms for so long, they’ve accepted them as normal:

1. The 3pm energy crash and urge for instant sugar.
2. The poor sleep that doesn’t help you feel rested.
3. The weight around the middle that won’t lessen (and sometimes keeps growing) no matter what you do.
4. The tense mood that feels like you’re one small thing away from completely snapping.

These are not normal or just the cost of being busy. They are signs that your stress response is stuck in overdrive and everything downstream is paying for it.

Cortisol dysregulation doesn’t just drain your energy. It disrupts your blood sugar, depletes your progesterone, drives abdominal fat storage, and throws your sleep cycle completely off.

One problem with a very long list of consequences.

The solution is actually pretty eas, but it does require actually looking at your cortisol curve, understanding what’s driving it, and addressing it in the right order.

If you checked 3 or more of thes boxes, your body has been trying to tell you something.

Look I know I can’t avoid plastics completely. But I jump through a ton of hoops to make my kitchen as toxin free as possible for both my health and my kids.

So I get really annoyed when I try to make an effort to buy organic produce and everything is wrapped in flimsy plastic. It’s like they’ve got to slip in some toxins any way they can.

Wellness trends: fact vs. fiction. The castor oil hormone hack.

Castor oil packs have over 300 million views on hormone balancing content right now. So let’s talk about what the research actually says.

The claim: applying castor oil to your abdomen detoxifies your liver and resets your hormones.

The reality: castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which has real topical anti-inflammatory properties. That is a documented thing. What is not a documented thing: any mechanism by which it changes your hormone levels.

If your liver detox pathways are genuinely overloaded, and for a lot of women they are, that is a nutrition, sleep, and gut health conversation.

More in the series coming. Follow so you don’t miss them.

The 4 hormone patterns I see in almost every woman I work with. Slide through and see how many sound like you.

Most women I work with have been dealing with these symptoms for years. They’ve been told their labs are normal, their thyroid is fine, their mood is just stress. They’ve tried the diets, adjusted their sleep, done everything ‘right’ and still feel off. I am usually a last resort.

Cortisol dominance is almost always the first domino. When your stress response gets stuck in the on position, everything downstream will be affected, including your thyroid, your s*x hormones, your blood sugar, and your sleep.

Estrogen and progesterone imbalance is the most commonly diagnosed as anxiety (annoying). Progesterone is the first hormone to fall under chronic stress. When it drops, your nervous system loses its primary calming signal. Worse, your labs can look completely normal while your body feels anything but.

Thyroid dysfunction that is hiding behind the other two. TSH staying normal while Free T3 is low is one of the most common patterns I see, and one of the most commonly missed. Standard panels don’t catch it.

Testosterone in women is finally getting some attention. Chronic stress, pregnancy, nursing, hormonal birth control all of it deplete it, resulting in flat moods, zero motivation, low libido, and difficulty building muscle.

These hormones don’t work in isolation; the patterns stack. They drive each other. Which is exactly why treating one thing at a time hasn’t worked.

Comment HORMONES and I’ll send you some resources to start with or we can just talk.

My DMs are open and I actually read them. 🤍
