The ads are relentless. They tell you that you're old and you smell!

Here, an expert from UCLA answered this Q&A, noting that there is only anecdotal evidence that tannins are needed in your specialty soap. Practice good hygiene for your body (using friction for effective exfoliation), open your windows now and then, and launder your fabrics and clothing with care to prevent buildup.

Perhaps you need to change your perspective before you buy another bathing product. It is a blessing to grow old! A blessing I tell you! Would you disagree?

(And for the record, we would give you a sniff if you only asked. Maybe some of us prefer that "old person" smell? There are no studies concluding we even dislike this specific oil smell.)

Why the tagline "Pure Pleasure"?

Founder Ken Gilberg came up with the tagline, “pure pleasure.” Pure, because Herbaria soap bars are unlike store-bought petroleum-derived detergent bars and liquids with artificial fragrance and colorants. Pleasure, because Herbaria soap bars are so much more enjoyable to use and to smell than commercial products from Unilever and Procter & Gamble.

Today, the tagline applies to more than just soap because we make a few dozen other products that are also absolutely “pure pleasure.”

Science has proven once again what we’ve known for over 20 years.

A study published in Nature this July and highlighted by The Guardian found that a natural lotion made from catnip oil is just as effective as DEET at repelling mosquitoes.
