One of the biggest concerns I hear from clients after their first microblading appointment is… “Oh my goodness, my brows are so dark!” 😳

But here’s something I always remind them: Your brows will typically soften and fade approximately 30% during the healing process! 🤎

I like to explain microblading this way…

🏡 Think of your first brow appointment like putting primer on a wall. You’re creating the foundation, but the finishing touches are what bring everything together!

Not every individual hair stroke will retain perfectly after that first appointment, and that’s completely normal!

During your six-week touch-up, we reevaluate how your skin healed, go back through the entire brow, and pay special attention to areas where pigment didn’t retain as well.

✨ THIS IS WHY THE TOUCH-UP IS SO IMPORTANT!

Your brows go through quite a transformation during those first 10 days. They start out darker and more defined, then soften considerably as they heal. Some strokes may even seem to disappear temporarily!

So please, don’t panic when you leave your first appointment with darker brows! Trust the healing process and remember that beautiful, natural-looking brows are built in stages. ❤️

❤️ Sometimes the Most Important Thing I Can Do for a Client Is Say, “Not Yet.”

Five months ago, a sweet woman walked into my studio hoping I could help her with her brows.

She had beautiful light brunette/auburn hair, but her previously tattooed eyebrows were nearly black. The pigment was so dark and saturated that there was simply nothing I could do to improve them by adding more pigment.

I could have attempted to cover them. I could have taken her money and hoped for the best.

But that’s not how I do business.

Instead, I had an honest conversation with her. I explained that if she truly wanted softer, more natural-looking brows, we needed to take a different approach.

I referred her to Peoria Laser, where she spent the next several months undergoing laser treatments to remove as much of the old pigment as possible.

It wasn’t a quick fix. It required patience, commitment, and trust.

❤️ And today, five months later, she was finally back in my chair!

We were able to begin creating the beautiful, softer brows she’s been waiting for.

Are we finished? Not yet! We anticipate another one or two sessions to continue refining her brows and working toward our desired result.

But today was a BIG step forward.

And I couldn’t be happier for her.

I share this story because I want women to understand something important about permanent makeup.

Not every set of brows can—or should—be covered up. Sometimes we have to take a few steps backward before we can move forward.

My responsibility isn’t simply to give someone new brows. It’s to be honest, protect the integrity of their skin, set realistic expectations, and guide them toward the best possible outcome—even when that means sending them somewhere else first.

I’m incredibly grateful this client trusted my advice, committed to the process, and came back to me.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about getting someone into my chair. It’s about doing right by the person sitting in it. ❤️
